Coding Compliance Specialist researches and develops the pre-certification insurance policy standards and criteria used by case management and utilization reviewers that will ensure that requested medical services are appropriate and medically necessary. Collaborates with medical professionals to resolve questions about policy development and standards. Being a Coding Compliance Specialist assigns correct ICD, CPT, or other coding assignments for medical procedures that support policy standards in claims systems. Provides expertise and solutions to users regarding the appropriate coding for claims. Additionally, Coding Compliance Specialist has broad knowledge of medical coding systems. May require an associate degree in healthcare administration, a related field, or equivalent. Requires AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC). May alternatively require Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification. Typically reports to a manager. The Coding Compliance Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Compliance Specialist Salary Range:

    $26.57 to $28.30 per hour

    Short Description

    The Compliance Specialist II will be responsible for implementing the Credit Union’s Compliance Risk Management Program. The Compliance Specialist will serve as a liaison to business units across the three lines of defense to identify and mitigate compliance risk.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist business units with assessing enterprise-wide compliance. Assesses compliance risk management programs as well as targeted regulations and requirements, such as: Fair Lending, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Unfair Deceptive or Abusive Acts or Practices, Bank Secrecy Act, and the technical federal and state regulatory laws, rules, and regulations applicable to the Credit Union’s business functions.
    • Participate in proposed changes to policies, procedures, and Credit Union training to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
    • Interpret and disseminate information, answer questions, and serve as a subject matter expert for the Credit Union on regulatory compliance matters. Serve as a trusted advisor to the various business units across the Credit Union. Partners with business units to develop practical solutions to meet compliance requirements and reduce compliance risks.
    • Maintain relationships and effective communication with business units across the Credit Union to influence strong compliance standards and consideration of compliance risk.
    • Review Credit Union projects for conflicts with regulatory requirements and guidance, and advise stakeholders of compliance requirements and potential regulatory risks and penalties.
    • Participate in new product development to provide input and expertise regarding potential compliance concerns.
    • Assist in the design and/or revision of forms, disclosures, notices, advertisements, and promotions to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.

    Requirements:

    • 3-5 years’ of recent and applicable regulatory compliance experience required in two or more of the following areas: enterprise-wide compliance, compliance risk management, fair lending, HMDA, and UDAAP.
    • Associate’s degree OR certification required (NCCO, CUCE, CRCM, or equivalent credit union or banking certification). Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree and certification.

    Schedule:

    Full Time during department hours of operation.

    Monday - Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm.

    Flex Scheduling and Work From Home Hybrid options available; must be in office 2 days a week.
