The Clinical Revenue Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Coding Compliance Auditor.
The Coding Compliance Auditor performs Facility Inpatient and/or Outpatient coding compliance audits per UHS Policies. Reviews documentation for accuracy of ICD10CM, ICD10PCS, MSDRG assignment and/or CPT, HCPCS. Must possess a thorough understanding Present on Admission (POA), discharge disposition requirements and any other pertinent data needed to capture correct coding, MSDRG and/or APC assignment. Provides educational materials, recommendations and/or formal education to coding/auditing staff. Assists in preparation of audit reports as required. Applies knowledge of Medical Terminology, Pathophysiology, Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology when performing audits.
Key Responsibilities include:

Performs Inpatient or Outpatient coding audits using ICD10CM, ICD10PCS, MSDRG and/or CPT, HCPCS, APC utilizing Official Coding Guidelines, regulatory guidelines and UHS guidelines. Utilizes appropriate systems for auditing.

Compiles and presents results of audits for educational purposes and for statistical purposes. Provides education as assigned.

Reviews discrepancies and disagreements with pertinent parties; Consults manager for any continued disputes.

Keeps abreast of all Official Coding Guidelines, Official Coding Clinics, and Regulatory updates, amendments, deletions to assure accurate auditing. Have a thorough understanding of the location of regulatory requirements for federal and state.

Maintains credentials; attends workshops to maintain and expand knowledge.
Qualifications:
Experience & Knowledge:
High School Diploma required; Technical School/2 Years College preferred.-
Extensive knowledge of ICD10CM, ICD10PCS. MSDRG and preferably APRDRG’s and/or Extensive knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, APC and preferably EAPG’s.
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years Auditing experience of Facility Acute Care Inpatient and/or Outpatient coding required. Or minimum of 3 – 5 years coding Facility Inpatient and/or Facility Outpatient.

Demonstrates ability to review assignment of diagnoses and procedures, MSDRG and/or APC

Ability to read medical reports, interpret lab values pertinent to coding.

Thorough knowledge Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS), MSDRG and regulatory requirements and/or Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS).

Broad knowledge of pharmacology and applicability to coding.

Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

Understanding of Official Coding Guidelines and any UHS specific guidelines
Skills:

Excellent written and Verbal communication skills required

Experience with computers, mainframe applications and encoder systems

Excellent customer services skills required

Ability to recognize, analyze and resolve issues

Familiar with MS applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
License or Registration Requirements:
RHIA, RHIT, CCS, COC, CIC, CPC
