  • Position Summary:

    The Coil Repair Technician would be responsible for evaluating, troubleshooting and repairing the MRI coils both electronically and mechanically.


    Essential Duties:

    • Maintenance and repair of MRI coils
    • Maintenance and repair of RF electronic subassemblies (body hybrids, T/R switch, multi-coil assemblies, etc.)
    • Perform testing and comprehensive component level troubleshooting
    • Assist in development of new stand-alone bench level test procedures for MRI coils
    • Providing technical assistance to sales or engineers in troubleshooting faults with coils when required
    • Build test interfaces to test functionality of coils
    • Completion of quality documentation and detailed service records
    • Sourcing replacement components, tools and devices used in the coil repair process
    • Coordinating the test equipment calibration program
    • Housekeeping of the coil inventory and work areas
    • Support Quality initiatives as it pertains to the organization and the role

    Education/Experience:

    Required:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Knowledge of RF circuit theory and troubleshooting experience required

    Preferred:

    • Associates of Science degree in Electronics (or related technical field or military field experience)
    • Medical Imaging background preferred

    Competencies:

    • Competence in electrical troubleshooting
    • Knowledge of analog and digital electronics
    • Ability to learn maintenance and repair procedures from manuals
    • Ability to identify repair priorities
    • Good manual dexterity and basic mechanical aptitude
    • Quality through hole and surface mount soldering
    • Ability to source electrical and mechanical components
    • Experience in the use of bench test equipment: multimeters, power supplies, network analyzers and LC meters
    • Ability to read, interpret and apply a wide variety of technical data including schematics, wiring diagrams, drawings and technical specifications
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Highly organized
    • Self-motivated
    • Able to work both as a team and independently
