TL;DR - We are looking for an Escape Room Host (aka "Gamemaster") to work in-person, biweekly on Saturdays 12pm-8pm, and possibly weekly Mon/Tues 3pm-8pm. The position involves interacting with guests, visually/audibly monitoring 1 escape games, setting up escape games, and general cleaning. Pay starts at $12/hr.
HEY YOU!
Yeah, you.
Do you want to ditch the mundane and work in a FUN environment?
Are you a showman/showwoman at heart?
Are you naturally kind & hospitable to strangers?
And most importantly... are you ready to help people create memories they will cherish for years & years, bringing friends & families closer together through the bond of a healthy entertainment experience that leaves them better when they walk out the door than when they came in?
If your answers were, "Yes, yes, yes, and HECK YES," then this could be a great fit for you!
We are searching for an Escape Room Host (aka "Gamemaster) to host escape room experiences at The Pod Escape Room!
Being a Gamemaster is a great side-gig! You will be working both in-person hours as well as remote, on-call hours.
Speaking of On-call--this is certainly the most unique element of a Gamemaster's schedule. Because we operate mostly by appointment, we only require our Gamemasters to be present for their shift when there is a game(s) scheduled. You will have a minimum of 40 minutes to make it in to work at any given time. This does create a level of uncertainty, yet freedom on the other hand--to do anything you want and get paid the on-call wage, so long as you are ready to drop what you are doing and make it to work within 40 minutes. That being said, Saturdays are our most consistent & busy days, so you will generally have a good idea of what your day will look like ahead of time for that day.
Pay begins at $12/hr, along with tips. On-call pay starts at $2.40/hr (2/5 your hourly wage, as mandated by the State of Michigan).
Don't get the wrong idea: it won't always be easy. You will be challenged. When you've had a non-stop day, working almost 10 hours watching/resetting the same games you've seen a hundred times, and then you have to reset those games one more time and give the space a good cleaning, you'll know this job is not all fun and games--even though that's exactly what it is! In the midst of the challenges, we meant what we said above: People will create lasting memories by your work. You will be responsible for bringing friends & families closer together through a healthy entertainment experience. How cool is that?!
