Collateral Appraiser conducts commercial real estate appraisals and property ratings to establish the market value generally used for investment guidance, lending, insurance, or other purposes. Follows standard processes for conducting and documenting on-site property inspections. Being an Collateral Appraiser performs data collection and research on building permits, prior assessments, and relevant market and economic conditions that impact property value. Reviews building plans and specifications and investigates the quality of the construction, the overall condition of the property, and the surrounding location. Additionally, Collateral Appraiser uses generally accepted appraisal practice concepts and practices to perform data analysis, develop valuation estimates, and write comprehensive reports and exhibits. Utilizes appraisal software tools and databases. Ensures that reports comply with required policies, formats, and regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. May require the Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) or similar designation. Requires a State Appraiser License. Typically reports to a manager. The Collateral Appraiser occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Collateral Specialists Inc. provides third-party inspection and auditing services to the financial community!

    Serving the industry for over 28 years, CSI provides services in all 50 states. CSI field inspections include, but are not limited to:

    Floor Plan Inspections - CSI’s floor plan inspections provide lenders with a regularly scheduled accounting of their financed inventory. CSI field representatives visit automotive, truck, and construction equipment dealerships at varying frequencies to verify inventory by serial number and model. CSI will verify which units financed by the bank are on site. Units not on site will need to be reconciled to ascertain their status (e.g., in stock, on demo, on rent, not received, sold, etc.) If they are stored nearby or at a repair shop when you arrive, you will often travel to offsite locations to photograph the vehicle.

    Equipment Inspections - Usually in conjunction with a new equipment lease, CSI verifies that the equipment being financed by a leasing company is at the end user’s place of business. Verification includes confirming serial numbers, taking photos, and preparing a short report.

    Site Inspections - Collateral Specialist’s site inspection service provides a physical inspection of your borrower’s place of business. All inspections include a report and photos of the property. Depending on your requirements, the CSI representative will either take a tour of the inside of the property or perform a no-contact exterior inspection. The detailed site inspection report provides information on the competition, the current business environment, and many other aspects that lenders need to know. Many of these inspections have a set of special instructions per the need of the client, so someone who has keen attention to detail, and written instructions is imperative.

    CSI is seeking part-time representatives to complete field inspections. Inspectors coordinate their own schedules and appointment times if requested. Turnaround times for reports are anywhere from 48 hours to 30 days, depending on the inspection.

    Essential Duties

    • Represent CSI and its customers in a professional manner
    • Travel to various businesses and verify collateral on hand, working off an inventory list
    • Taking digital photos of property and equipment
    • Completing reports via the web. CSI Tablets are sent to active floor plan inspectors.
    • Verifying the existence and accuracy of documents
    • Communicate with CSI from the site with inspection results

    Basic Skills / Requirements

    • Reliable transportation and willingness to regularly travel within 50 miles of home
    • Detail oriented
    • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
    • Highly organized
    • Dependable
    • Schedule flexibility – Weekday availability before 4:00 PM
    • Proficient with mobile technology (tablet, cell phone, etc.)
    • Adhere to strict confidentiality standards
    • Able to climb short distances (i.e., into a truck cab)
    • Ability to learn quickly and is a self-starter
    • Ability to follow complex procedures

    This is a part-time position; hours will vary based on customer order requests. Experience in the automotive or financial industry preferred. Our field representatives are compensated at competitive rates and are supported by an excellent staff of account specialists.
