Collateral Appraiser conducts commercial real estate appraisals and property ratings to establish the market value generally used for investment guidance, lending, insurance, or other purposes. Follows standard processes for conducting and documenting on-site property inspections. Being an Collateral Appraiser performs data collection and research on building permits, prior assessments, and relevant market and economic conditions that impact property value. Reviews building plans and specifications and investigates the quality of the construction, the overall condition of the property, and the surrounding location. Additionally, Collateral Appraiser uses generally accepted appraisal practice concepts and practices to perform data analysis, develop valuation estimates, and write comprehensive reports and exhibits. Utilizes appraisal software tools and databases. Ensures that reports comply with required policies, formats, and regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. May require the Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) or similar designation. Requires a State Appraiser License. Typically reports to a manager. The Collateral Appraiser occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     NJM's Appraisal Department is seeking to fill a Field Auto Damage Appraiser to travel throughout Southern NJ. The Appraiser is responsible for Inspecting first and third-party vehicle damage and then providing.  

    Responsibilities

    • Contacting and arranging schedules with customers, auto body shops and tow yards.
    • Inspecting, photographing and appraising damage to vehicles involved in an automobile accident or loss.
    • Estimate parts and labor to repair damage, using standard automotive labor and parts-cost software.
    • Evaluate practicality of repair as opposed to payment of market value of vehicle before accident.
    • Review repair-cost estimates with automobile repair shop to secure agreement on cost of repairs.
    • Estimates are created and negotiated based on company guidelines and applicable law.
    • Reinspect and review estimates for accuracy and conformity to Company guidelines.

    Requirements

    • Customer service skills and experience.
    • Multi-tasking, problem-solving, negotiation and decision-making abilities.
    • Technical aptitude, including a working knowledge with estimating systems, preferably CCC One.
    • Travel is required and must use their own vehicle and have reliable transportation.
    • Adequate space for a home office and ability to work in an indirectly supervised environment.
    • Body Shop experience and/or related insurance experience required.
    • Must have a Pennsylvania Appraisers License or be willing to obtain it after hire.
