Collateral Manager leads a team of appraisers conducting assessments, valuations, and appraisal reviews of real estate, land, and other personal property to establish the market value generally used for lending, insurance, or other purposes. Establishes processes for conducting on-site inspections of property and data collection required to perform valuations. Being an Collateral Manager follows generally accepted appraisal practice concepts and practices to perform data analysis, develop valuation estimates, and write comprehensive reports and exhibits. Ensures appraisal documentation and appraiser certification comply with all regulations. Additionally, Collateral Manager performs appraisal quality reviews to ensure appropriate valuation and minimize risk. Creates process efficiencies with appraisal software tools and databases. May require a bachelor's degree. Has the Member of the Appraisal Institute (SRPA) or similar designation. Requires a State Appraiser License. Typically reports to a director. The Collateral Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Collateral Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • SUMMARY:


    The position of Collateral Administrator is responsible for oversight of the banks collateral program and managing collateral risk through data integrity and the monitoring of insurance tracking and force placement programs. The Collateral Administrator’s expertise lies in compliance, credit risk, and loan servicing. Proficient knowledge of bank operations is essential. This position reports directly to the Director of Loan Operations.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


    • Verify collateral identification and perfection as appropriate for each collateral type and risk level
    • Review initial lien perfection and oversee the accurate input of all indicative data changes
    • Reviews evidence of insurance and insurance reporting for accuracy and completeness; monitors compliance with state and federal laws and regulations and the Bank’s lending policies and procedures
    • Provides appropriate insurance reporting to internal clients and leadership.
    • Management of all vendor accounts within the department including account reconciliation
    • Provides supervision and support to all areas of the department as necessary
    • Reinforces the application of superior customer service through his or her own example along with appropriate follow through with involved employees; conducts specific periodic meetings and presentations on this topic with all staff members.
    • Assumes responsibility for special projects, gathers data and prepares reports for senior management, audit, and other personnel.
    • Consistently applies superior decision-making techniques pertaining to inquiries as they apply to existing policies and procedures, using these instances as learning tools for employee development.
    • Assists staff and management with utilizing computer facilities and resources; provides guidance on usage, resolves minor software inquiries or issues.
    • Independently conduct research and confidently engage with line partners to discuss loans
    • Plays a major role in the development and growth of department staff through excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong delegation skills assuring a highly cross-trained staff.
    • Performs personnel actions including performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and interviewing candidates for employment; supervises the daily activities of the department including, but not limited to, effective delegation of assignments, developing work schedules and providing necessary training.
    • Ensures compliance to meet security precautions and protect customer loans, collateral, bank assets and staff.
    • Addresses escalated or time-sensitive issues, disputes, and requests to facilitate processes and associate workflow.
    • Provides expertise and guidance to align daily activities with service standards and business goals.
    • Identifies, recommends, and assists in implementing process improvements.
    • Utilizes available technology to review and process account activity
    • Answers telephones, answers questions, and directs callers to proper Bank personnel.
    • Completes annual compliance courses.
    • Adheres specifically to all corporate policies and procedures. Also adheres to Federal and State regulations and laws; including, the Bank Secrecy Act and the Anti-Money Laundering Act.
    • Adheres to all levels of our Service Excellence standards.
    • Performs other duties as required.


    GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:


    Knowledge & Experience
    : These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.


    • Associate’s degree or higher; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of duties in a business environment. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in collateral and insurance review within commercial & retail lending
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a leadership role, ideally within loan operations
    • Advanced knowledge of collateral insurance products and services; related state and federal Insurance laws and regulations, and other Bank operational policies and procedures. Experience with tracking & force place companies
    • Working knowledge of complex real estate appraisals.
    • Strong communicator who is both articulate and concise. Demonstrates success interacting with senior leaders across all functions. Ability to communicate in precise technical detail when required
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to work under minimal supervision.
    • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing, spreadsheet and specialty software programs.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task


    Physical Demands/Work Environment:
    Vision, hearing, speech, dexterity, visual concentration. A valid driver’s license is required. Must have the ability to stand, walk, sit and use hands and fingers. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. The environment is a professional office with standard office equipment.
