Collateral Manager leads a team of appraisers conducting assessments, valuations, and appraisal reviews of real estate, land, and other personal property to establish the market value generally used for lending, insurance, or other purposes. Establishes processes for conducting on-site inspections of property and data collection required to perform valuations. Being an Collateral Manager follows generally accepted appraisal practice concepts and practices to perform data analysis, develop valuation estimates, and write comprehensive reports and exhibits. Ensures appraisal documentation and appraiser certification comply with all regulations. Additionally, Collateral Manager performs appraisal quality reviews to ensure appropriate valuation and minimize risk. Creates process efficiencies with appraisal software tools and databases. May require a bachelor's degree. Has the Member of the Appraisal Institute (SRPA) or similar designation. Requires a State Appraiser License. Typically reports to a director. The Collateral Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Collateral Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Collateral Specialist

  • Position Description:
    The Document Management department works with clients across the nation to ensure that their loans are accurate and their property is released in a timely manner.
    The Collateral Specialist position requires someone with high attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time. This will include the ability to communicate professionally via email and over the phone, while also working with internal and external clients to complete the documentation packet. Were looking for someone who prides themselves on the work they do, and who is excited to come to work, ready to meet the challenge of completing the days tasks. The Collateral Specialist will also assist other team members, so were looking for someone who would be willing to ask questions for clarification and suggest efficiencies on processes if necessary.
    The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday. Starting pay for this position is $17/hour, approximately $35,000/year based on experience. Training will be provided.

    Time and Priority Management
    Monitor daily reports of paid off loans to determine if the bank needs to release property to client Follows KS StateBank and federal timeframes to meet deadlines for property release
    Prepares document exception tracking ticklers for commercial and consumer loans Plans schedule to complete standard daily tasks; however, is aware that urgent needs may come up that require an immediate shift in focus Cross-trained on other areas in the department to act as backup in the event of absence or high work volume

    Planning and Organization
    Maintain departmental Excel workbook to track the progress of paid off loans, including documenting needed items, location in process, and upcoming deadlines Upon receiving documentation, scans and uploads information to electronic file either same-day or within two business days
    Understands work process for position and department. Knows daily tasks and prioritizes outstanding duties before continuing on with new processes
    Has knowledge of items needed to complete file. Possess curiosity and research skills to look up necessary information before its requested in order to maximize work flow and efficiency

    Problem Solving
    Work independently to complete tasks, using resources, knowledge, and experience to guide decisions; keep manager informed on decisions and ask for guidance on larger or complicated decisions and issues Can navigate digital and online portals to pull reports, retrieve information, and upload documents
    Understands how each department affects, or is affected by, other departments in the bank in order to increase communication and promote knowledge
    Participates in meetings to understand upcoming changes and concerns. Communicates appropriate information to team members. Calls on others for assistance when necessary and appropriate.
    Understands what resources will be required to resolve issues. Utilizes existing training aids, including: procedurals; personal notes from training and coaching; computer tutorials; and departmental reference works.

    Goal Orientation
    Strives to have property released to the client within two business days of it appearing on the paid off loan report When submitting property release requests to various counties and government institutions, has a less than 10% refusal rate as a result of errors in the documentation
    Work diligently to create document exception tracking ticklers daily with less than 10% error rate Works with manager to identify and develop growth opportunities within the department and organization Comes to meetings with prepared topics for development or efficiencies of interest

    Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    High School Graduate or GED required
    Computer skills, to include ability to fluidly switch between multiple online systems;
    Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, and Word
    Interpersonal skills
    Ability to use an adding machine
    10-key keyboard skills helpful
    Prefer experience with Jack Henry Financial Operating System Xperience; Credit Quest An intermediate level of computer proficiency and literacy
    Able to switch efficiently between tasks and make quick decisions
    Detail Oriented

    Physical Requirements:
    Ability to stand for long periods of time
    Able to view a computer screen for long periods of time
    Must be able to speak and listen clearly both in person and on the phone
    Fine visual acuity to read for accuracy
    Lifts up to 20lbs occasionally
