We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Collections Specialist to join our team. As a Collections Specialist, you will be responsible for contacting individuals and businesses to collect outstanding debts. Your main goal will be to recover payments and maintain positive customer relationships.
Duties:
- Contact individuals and businesses via phone, email, or mail to collect outstanding debts
- Negotiate payment plans and settlements with debtors
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all collection activities, credit management and customer records
- Follow legal requirements and company policies when pursuing debt collection
- Provide excellent customer service while handling sensitive financial matters
- Utilize accounting software to track payments, update account information, and generate reports
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Collaborate with other team members to develop strategies for effective debt recovery
- Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices in debt collection
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of financial concepts, including debits, credits, and revenue cycle management
- Proficiency in using accounting software for account reconciliation and reporting
- Excellent negotiation skills to establish payment plans and settlements
- Familiarity with construction liens is a plus
- Experience in telemarketing or customer service roles is preferred
