  • The Career and College Promise (CCP) Student Success Coach will assist in the development of educational plans combining secondary and postsecondary coursework to ensure the attainment of CCP pathway requirements, transferable college credit, other college credential, and/or Associate’s degree for concurrently enrolled students based on their year of entry into the school. S/he maintains and provides accurate CCP program and course information for new and returning students. S/he provides information on all aspects of new student orientation, placement test interpretation, advising services, and career identification and selection. The CCP Student Success Coach provides academic advising and career exploration guidance to new and continuing students in a face-to-face or online environment. S/he assists students in determining their major course of study by offering resources for self-exploration related to careers; interprets career assessment results and guides students in researching employment trends and gathering information related to careers of interest.
    Mid Salary $32,079.72- We offer a competitive salary package that will be determined based on the candidate's experience level and qualifications related to the job. Compensation will be commensurate with your level of experience. Duties/Functions
    • Provide academic advising, career exploration, and registration services for new and continuing face-to-face and online CCP students, assisting students in determining their college major by offering resources for self-exploration related to career opportunities and employment trends.
    • Assist with course selection, course withdrawal, program changes, and teaches students about technology available to them for registration.
    • Evaluate incoming transcripts and track completed courses to ensure students are guided to appropriate courses.
    • Analyze curriculum, CCP pathways, course pre-requisites/co-requisites, graduation requirements, and other documents as required.
    • Refer students to print and web-based resources related to career information.
    • Make students aware of campus and community resources, including online student services and academic support services.
    • Communicates with students in response to early alerts issued by instructors, identifies appropriate intervention strategies and guides students in the use of those strategies to address challenges.
    • Work collaboratively with instructional departments to provide appropriate advising services to students.
    • Work with GCS high school counselors to actively recruit high school and academy students for concurrent enrollment opportunities. Assist in the identification of target groups for comprehensive student recruitment and outreach activities on and off campus.
    • Collaborate with college and high school disability access service staff to ensure proper support.
    • Attend educational/informational sessions and career fairs for prospective students and their parents.
    • Hold specialized orientation sessions for new and concurrently enrolled students and their parents.
    • Participate in parent/student high school activities.
    • Participate in community outreach programs/presentations as appropriate.
    • Participate in college training offerings, departmental meetings, and statewide and regional professional development opportunities to improve knowledge and skill base and proficiency in the field.
    • Actively serve as an effective member to appointed college committees and participate in college activities as requested.
    • Demonstrates and models the College’s employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility and teamwork.

    Education Required
    • Bachelor’s degree required in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Business, Social Sciences or related field.
    Education Preferred
    • Master’s degree preferred in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Business, Social Sciences or related field.
    Experience Required
    • 1 year of experience working in secondary or post-secondary academic advising that includes assisting students with program selection, educational plans, course scheduling and registration.
    Experience Preferred
    • 1 year of experience working with dual enrollment high school students.
    • More than 1 year of experience working in secondary or post-secondary academic advising that includes assisting students with program selection, educational plans, course scheduling and registration.
    KSA Required
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, counselors, faculty, staff, administration and the general public.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Must have strong presentation skills.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to adapt in a changing workplace environment that is focused on student retention and success.
    • Ability to work independently, as well as in a collaborative team environment, using good judgment, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills while upholding college procedures and policies.
    • Must have general knowledge of the community college system and understand the philosophy and mission of the community college.
    • Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including college related software and email. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
    • Demonstrated effectiveness and sensitivity to a multicultural environment and a commitment to campus-wide educational equity and retention efforts; proven comprehensive skills to advocate for inclusivity of diverse student populations.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of higher education and secondary education
    • Demonstrate knowledge, good judgment, and the willingness to support and enforce college policy and procedures and maintain confidentiality.
