    Job Description

    Centralia College is committed to student success, academic excellence, and supporting our communities in an inclusive and equitable learning environment. Centralia College East (CCEast), located in Morton, Washington, is seeking a director that possesses skills and characteristics that leading with equity align with and support the college’s mission. This position provides leadership and support in the planning,implementation, and assessment of educational offerings and community offerings. Educational offerings include but are not limited to, High School Plus (HS ) classes, GED classes, transfer and career and technical courses aligned with Associate Degree and Certificate programs.

    Under general supervision of the Dean of Instruction for Transitional Studies and CCEast, the Director serves as the administrative lead and performs a variety of complex tasks, which include but are not limited to the following: marketing, public relations, partnership development, assist in program development and implementation, establish priorities and deadlines, budget status monitoring and reconciliation, and other related duties as assigned. This position requires leadership, management, organization, and strong verbal and written communication skills. This position engages in collaboration, across college divisions to provide classes and support to students. The ability to work independently is critical. Responsibilities include the overall management of the education programs and staff members at CCEast. The successful applicant must be able to exercise independent judgement, and decision-making skills.

    In addition, this position is tasked with developing and enhancing on- and off campus partnerships in support of these programs. The director shall ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, SBCTC policies and regulations, college policies, procedures and practices as they apply to each of the program areas.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Oversees all aspects of daily operations of CCEast, including the following:

    Public Relations:

    • Establishes a welcoming and supportive environment to potential, new, and returning students, community members, and partnering organizations.
    • Resolves problems and responds to inquiries requiring substantive knowledge of college programs, policies, and procedures.
    • Oversees the recruitment and training for adjuncts, faculty, and staff. Supervision of student workers with assistance from the program coordinator.
    • Ensures students are provided assistance with initial inquiries, application process, appointments for testing, financial aid, and advising.
    • Identifies and implements procedures to ensure positive customer service, office functions, building maintenance, and security.
    • Creates promotional material and makes promotional contacts in the community.
    • Works with staff members at main campus to develop articles, brochures, and other marketing, recruitment and retention tools.
    • Markets programs and services through fliers, social media, and information packets.

    Partnership Development:

    • Build relationships with other agencies and organizations as appropriate for serving student needs and meeting campus-wide goals and objectives.
    • Maintains contact and strengthens partnerships with area school district personnel through regular communications and meetings.
    • Makes necessary presentations to area governing bodies and agencies to strengthen educational programs and partnerships.
    • Participates in the local Chamber of Commerce, East Lewis County Development Council, and other community development organizations as appropriate.
    • Meets semi-annually with the CCEast Advisory Committee, recruits committee members, develops agendas, and implements recommendations as feasible.
    • Assists the CCEast Dean in providing leadership for long-range and strategic planning and implementing goals.

    Instructional Programming:

    • Leads the planning, development, scheduling, coordination and implementation of programs and courses at CCEast
    • Develops and schedules community education classes, including development of course outlines, recruitment of instructors, and administration of the required employment paperwork.
    • Responds to community requests for training and courses, as appropriate and feasible.
    • Develops quarterly CCEast printed schedule and mailer with assistance from main campus
    • Schedule regular faculty meetings for dean
    • Collects and analyzes date to identify enrollment trends, course scheduling needs, and budget needs.
    • Assist dean in verification of adjunct and moonlight contracts

    Budget and Finance:

    • Assists CCEast Dean with the development of the budget.
    • Tracks and monitors budget expenditures.
    • Provides oversight for the purchasing of items needed to maintain and develop the facility and programs.

    Connection with Main Centralia College Campus:

    • Serves as liaison between CCEast and main campus departments.
    • Provides oversight and assistance with testing services including Accuplacer, eCASAS, and GED testing proctoring.
    • Coordinates with other college staff on administrative practices and procedures.

    Enrollment Services:

    • Supervises enrollment services, including registration, tuition payments, and bookstore sales.
    • Collaborates with admissions, cashiering, bookstore, financial aid, and agency personnel as needed.

    Facility:

    • Provides oversight to identify facility needs and works to fulfill those needs through Facilities, Operations, and Maintenance Department at the main campus.
      • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree AND 2 years of relevant work experience OR equivalent education/experience (Preferred Marketing and Promotional experience)
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Experience developing programs or trainings
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills
    • Proficient skills in the use of Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook
    • Ability to manage a dynamic daily workload and project future work
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently & collaboratively
    • Ability to seek out and interpret complex information
    • Ability to problem solve

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in a community college setting
    • Experience working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
    • Knowledge of the college’s structure, policies, and governance.
    • Knowledge of appropriate measures that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Skilled in the effective and accurate use of ctcLink in day-to-day operations.

    Conditions of Employment

    This is a twelve (12) month per year, full-time administrative exempt position. The salary is $68,000 - $72,000 (DOQ/DOE) annually depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The state of Washington provides a comprehensive benefits package for state employees. The position may participate in the TIAA/CREF retirement system.
