    Clinton College seeks an experienced academic leader and administrator with a strong record
    of progressively responsible leadership to serve as the College’s Vice President for Academic
    Services (VPAS). The VPAS will have both the personal and intellectual qualities to lead the
    College’s academic mission during an exciting and transformative time in the College’s history.
    The VPAS will have the opportunity to shape the future of a college that is at a significant
    moment in its 129-year history.

    On the heels of a successful, 10-year reaffirmation visit by TRACS and the approval of
    additional academic offerings, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Clinton College is
    poised to take a momentous step forward. The VPAS will serve on the executive leadership
    team as the Chief Academic Officer reporting directly to the President and working closely with
    the College's administration, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends to preserve and further
    capitalize on Clinton College’s unique strengths to make the College an even better beacon
    of light for today’s scholars and tomorrow’s leaders. The VPAS will ensure that Clinton College
    will continue to provide its students a liberal arts education rich in personal attention that
    prepares them for a life of servant leadership.

    The ideal candidate will be a visionary servant leader and an astute academic innovator. The
    VPAS will work collaboratively with the President and others through shared governance with
    a shared vision.

    Reporting directly to the VPAS are the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs,
    Department Chairs of each Academic Program, and the Director for Records and Registration.
    This role also provides oversight for the Student Support Services, Workforce Development
    Program, and Distance Learning Programs.

    The VPAS Portfolio of Responsibilities Include:

    • Providing leadership and executive oversight of research and academic planning;
    assessment and curriculum review, faculty hiring, national, regional and program
    accreditation; development, recruitment, and evaluation; honors and bridge programs;
    and continuing education.

    • Ensuring the Academic Services of the College are in compliance with all accreditation
    standards and strives for continuous improvement.

    • Assuming the academic services related duties, obligations, and responsibilities of the
    College President, as assigned, during his/her absence.

    • Managing an academic operating budget that adheres to College guidelines and
    reflects the long-range plans of the institution; prepare reports and presentations for
    submission to the President, the Board of Trustees, and other College constituencies.

    • Serving on the President’s Administrative Cabinet.
    • Planning, developing, implementing, and directing all academic needs and services of
    the College.

    • Supervising all activities of teaching faculty; assessing learning outcomes.
    • Providing guidance to the digital library and learning commons on collection
    development.

    • Participating in the development and revision of academic policies; overseeing and
    supporting distance education offerings.

    • Managing the academic strategic plan of the College in conjunction with the faculty and
    administration.

    • Overseeing the development, organization, assessment, and revision of the College's
    academic programs and academic master plan.

    • Working collaboratively with Sponsored Programs to ensure efficient and effective
    academic grant management and compliance.

    • Collaborating closely with Division of Student Success to promote student retention,
    progress, and graduation.

    • Assuming other responsibilities as directed by the President

    The VPAS Qualifications/Professional Skills Include:

    • Earned doctorate or terminal degree, preferably within one of the disciplines of the
    College.

    • Strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of and commitment to the mission
    and values of Clinton College, and a thorough understanding and appreciation of the
    College’s student-centered culture

    • Significant administrative experience, a highly relational approach, authenticity, self-
    confidence balanced with humility, integrity of the highest order, and a clear
    understanding of the challenges facing higher education and historically black colleges
    and universities.

    • Ability to work independently and as a team member, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines,
    and assign work to others.

    • Demonstrated understanding of the role of academic leaders in recruiting and
    enrollment management.

    • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population; demonstrated skill and knowledge
    of the following areas: program and curriculum development, effective managerial
    practices, excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation skills,
    assessment of academic programs and student learning, trends in higher education,
    including educational technology, and fostering innovation in the instructional process.

    Salary Range: $100,000 - $115,000


    Additional Information:

    Employment at Clinton College is contingent upon a background check that is satisfactory to
