    The Vice President for Student Services (VP-SS) works under the direction of the President and employs multiple sources of data to provide strategic leadership in a student equity-focused environment. This senior executive position is charged with providing overall leadership and accountability for student services that promote and sustain educational success with a specific focus on equity and inclusion throughout all efforts. Primary areas of responsibility include Advising, Admissions/Enrollment Services, Assessment/Testing, Athletics and Physical Education, Career Center, the Community Employment Program, Counseling, Financial Aid, the First Year Experience, Residential & Student Life, Running Start, Student Conduct, Veteran & Military Student Services, Student Outreach & Recruitment, and the campus-wide Welcome DesksThe Student Services division provides support to approx. 8,000 students attending Shoreline each yearwith an estimated 4,000 students enrolled each quarter. Work under the VP-SS is supported by 2 student service Dean positions within a unit of approximately 50 staff and faculty. 


    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

    • Provide division leadership in the development, management, assessment, and quality improvement of student support services programming. 

    • Monitor legal compliance issues, (Student Conduct, FERPA, Title IX, etc.) and due process procedures to ensure an environment conducive to the educational process.

    • Develop and monitor division operating budgets ensuring alignment to the College's strategic goals/priorities.

    • Collaborate with partners in the procurement/administration of external funding for Student Services. 

    • Develop/implement a strategic enrollment management plan responsive to the College’s objectives and student success metrics. 

    • Develop and lead an equity-minded student retention and completion plan which meets State and legislative requirements such as Guided Pathways implementation, or similar initiatives. 

    • Initiate, evaluate, refine, and continuously use data-informed strategic processes which support the enrollment, persistence, graduation, and success of Shoreline students. 

    • Build efficient student services systems within the College that emphasize equity within customer service

    • Promote and sustain practices which reduce opportunity gaps within support services

    • Maintain a student-centered philosophy and focus within student enrollment, program selection, retention, graduation, job placement, and transfer success.

    • Represent the College with the WA Student Services Commission and other local/state groups or agencies. 

    • Actively collaborate with all College leaders, including the Associated Student Government leaders, to carry out strategic initiatives. 

    • Advise the President of the College on matters related to Student Services.

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the President.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    • Master's degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related area

    • Five (5) years of college-level leadership experience in student services

    • Experience with managing student achievement supports and services, including efforts focused on students from historically underrepresented backgrounds. 

    • Student housing management and programming.


    KNOWLEDGE OF: 

    • Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft/ctcLink, and other educational data management systems. 

    • Leadership best practices, including the practice of effective supervision. 

    • Student development theory and best practices in student enrollment management. 

    • Recruitment, academic advising, and retention strategies in a community college environment. 

    • Barriers to educational success for under-represented and underserved students. 

    • Labor management within a collective bargaining environment. 

    • Budgeting principles and practices; and academic policy development and implementation. 

    • Title IX law, FERPA, ADA/504 Requirements and student conduct requirements.

    • Budget management which ensures programmatic needs are met within funding.

    PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    The College is currently providing services in a mixed modality of operations (both online and in-person services are offered). Administrators are assigned to work on campus, noting there may be some opportunities to work remotely based on program or area needs. If authorized for limited remote work, employees will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. When working on-campus, this position will perform work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment and physically attend meetings both on and off campus, using the ability to communicate in person or through appropriate means. This position also works weekends and evenings when appropriate or needed as required


    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY: 

    This is a full-time administrative/exempt annually contracted position with initial salary placement determined by the College dependent upon education/experienceHiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.
