Vice President for Institutional Transformation and Advisor to the President.

Under the leadership of University President, Rev. John Jenkins, C.S.C. and as outlined in the report issued by the University's Trustee Task Force on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Spring 2022, Advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Notre Dame: A Strategic Framework, Notre Dame is committed to adopting a comprehensive and sustainable strategic framework in the context of its distinctive Catholic mission for advancing diversity, equity and inclusion centrally and within all divisions, colleges and schools. The Vice President for Institutional Transformation and Advisor to the President will report to the President and serve as a high-impact, strategic leader working alongside a university community eager to continue to make progress in attracting underrepresented students, faculty and staff, and in fostering a true sense of inclusion for every member. The Vice President will be responsible for creating an integrated diversity strategy for the University. This includes formulating strategy, communication plans, establishing targets, monitoring progress, and addressing gaps or barriers to progress. This position will be tasked with building external and internal partnerships that will support the diversity initiatives at Notre Dame. Position will require an individual with executive presence who possesses strong communication skills and the ability to present and sell strategies and initiatives necessary to grow workforce diversity, equity and inclusion. A complete understanding of diversity and effective diversity networks are necessary. The ability to coordinate and collaborate across various campus constituencies to establish meaningful initiatives for change is an imperative.
There is a preferred candidate for this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
This role requires a doctoral degree and at least seven years of experience. An understanding of the culture of higher education, including: shared governance; tenure and promotion; multiple and competing goals; decentralized environment; and the unique needs of students, faculty and staff. Prior work experience in advancing diversity and inclusion initiatives for a premier institution of higher learning. Superior communication skills, change management skills, and track record of leading organizational change are required.
