    Reporting to the vice president for student affairs and serving as a member of the student affairs leadership team, the associate vice president for student well-being and dean of students will be expected to: be responsible for the planning, implementation and assessment of comprehensive student services that encompass student wellbeing, student development, student transition services, retention and re-enrollment activities, student care and crisis support. Direct leadership and supervision includes the Office of the Dean of Students, Student Accountability, Student Health Center, Student Counseling Center, Title IX, Student Support and Outreach, and the Center for Race, Equity and Identity; the dean of students also serves as a liaison on several committees facilitating communication in support of an integrated college-wide student service model that provides a student-centered experience.


    Essential Job Functions:

    • Provide overall direction and leadership for Office of the Dean of Students, Student Accountability, Student Health Center, Student Counseling Center, Title IX, Student Support and Outreach, and the Center for Race, Equity and Identity.
    • Collaboratively review, develop, and implement policies related to student well-being and ensure that the policies are up to date and are being implemented fairly and consistently across the student body.
    • Mediate conflict and assist in coordinating responses to emergencies and crisis situations that involve students.
    • Lead and/or serve on various committees including: CARE Team, Threat Assessment Team, Behaviorial Intervention Team, Student Affairs Leadership Team and other campus-wide committees.
    • Manage and take responsibility for the budget of the Dean of Students Office and individual units.
    • Coordinate divisional professional engagement and development offerings.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Job Requirements:


    Education:

    Required: A master's degree in higher education administration, counseling, psychology, social work, or closely related field.

    Preferred: A doctorate in higher education administration, counseling, psychology, social work, or closely related field.


    Professional Experience:

    Required:

    • 7 years of increasingly responsible positions in student affairs including supervision of multiple full-time professionals.
    • 5 years of experience in college student development, crisis management, strategic planning, management, and assessment.
    • Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice.

    Preferred:

    • 10 years of experience in responsible positions in student affairs
    • Experience as a Dean, Associate Dean, or Assistant Dean of Students.
    • Active membership in related national associations
    • Experience with establishing a clear long-term vision to aligned with a College's Strategic plan.

    Computer Skills:

    Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel (preferably including use of formulas, creating charts, and sorting data), and Powerpoint.


    Other Skills, Abilities, Qualifications:

    Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize. Professional phone etiquette. Attention to detail; ability to work under time pressure; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and with frequent interruptions; diplomacy; discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information. Basic understanding of arithmetic and ability to compute. Possess outstanding written and oral communication skills.

    Salary Range: $112,358 - 132,186
