About the Job:
The role of the VP Controller for this multi-state, multi-billion regional bank is to oversee a team and all financial activities for the bank and its subsidiaries including accounting policies and processes, GL maintenance, corporate accounting operations, internal & external reporting, SOX 404 controls, tax accounting and reporting, strategic initiatives, etc.
This person will manage two Senior Accounting Managers and report directly to the Chief Accounting Officer who gives his people autonomy and is down-to-earth and collaborative.
This position will include working on special projects and ad-hoc strategic initiatives so this would be a good fit for someone proactive and driven and who enjoys problem-solving and finding out-of-the-box solutions.
This person must have technical accounting experience and be skilled in research and writing memos because they will create clear and precise written documentation communicating complex accounting information, procedures, policies, and decisions to various stakeholders within and outside the organization.
Responsibilities:
Oversight of accounts payable, reconciliations, corporate accounting, accounting data and policies, researching guidance, internal and external reporting, SOX 404 controls, cost accounting, forecasting, budgeting, income taxes, etc.
They are looking for someone to bring together the bank's financial analysis, planning, and accounting divisions and be proactive in coming up with new ideas, voicing opinions, and picking up on areas for improvement.
Provide support with annual budgeting, forecasts, stress testing processes, special projects, hands-on ad hoc requests, and merger/acquisition opportunities.
Ensure the implementation of efficient accounting procedures, systems, and processes.
Maintain solid communication and cohesive relationships with the finance team and other bank lines of business.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting and a CPA is required (active or inactive).
10 years of related experience and experience in a management role is required.
Big 4 or Big 5 experience strongly preferred.
SOX technical accounting skills are a must.
Banking experience is strongly preferred.
Compensation: Pay is negotiable and dependent on multiple factors and can be discussed further.
Location: This position is located in Billings Montana. Relocation is available. Location is non-negotiable.
