Ignite is currently seeking a driven, detail-oriented Chief Scientist & Vice President for National Security Space Programs to join our team. Nested within the National Security Programs Business Unit and directly reporting to the Vice President for National Security Programs, this leadership role will involve managing and growing business lines supporting the US Space Force and National Reconnaissance Office. This position will work in a fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Additional duties will involve advising corporate leadership and select clients on the advanced scientific and technical aspects of their respective mission(s), as well as supporting the development, implementation, and execution of advanced research and technology strategies that are intended to protect US national interests or enhance the lethality of US space forces.
This position is expected to be located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with industry, academia, and government partners to support the development of new technologies, explore emerging trends, and position Ignite to remain at the forefront of national security space innovation.
- Develop and sustain a comprehensive research and technology strategy (products & services) for Ignite that aligns with the national security space mission.
- As an element of the corporate business development and capture strategy, identify and prioritize anticipated research and technology needs intended to support the national security space mission.
- Advise the senior leadership of national security space stakeholder organizations on the scientific and technical aspects of their missions, including advanced technology acquisition and capability development.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with external partners to foster collaboration and leverage external expertise and resources as a line of services to be delivered to the national security space enterprise.
- Enable Ignite’s presence within research and development efforts to support the national security space mission.
- Represent Ignite’s interests in external forums, including academic and industry conferences, in relation to national security space research and technology interests.
- Advise leaders of national security space research and technology efforts on best practices to ensure they are consistent with national and defense policies and regulations.
