    Summary/Objective of Position:

    The Debt-Free College Pathway Program provides students with the opportunity to continue their education at a minimum debt with Diné College and to gain valuable work experience in a professional setting on campus that supports their career and degree program-offering students who are eligible the opportunity to build their resume while they are working towards achieving their degrees. Graduating with financial stress-free debt from Diné College. Debt-Free College Pathway Program employees will provide administrative and office support to various departments at various campus locations.


    Description of Essential Functions of the Position

    The Debt-Free College Pathway Student Intern will maintain a positive and professional working relationship with internal/external agencies and within the campus community. Coordinates prepares, and disseminates publications related to student activities and student services. Assists in preparing and editing fliers, posters, literature, and other materials prepared for on-campus distributions.
    • Helps plan, schedule, and implement activities for individual and/or group activities based on the department's needs.
    • Coordinates and participates in planned activities promoting social interaction and intellectual stimulation.
    • Clerical duties include answering phones, writing memos, running errands, word documents, Xeroxing, faxing, etc.
    • Assist with the creation of flyers, and special events notices and help publicize events
    • Other tasks as assigned by the department

    Debt-Free College Pathway Program
    • Must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with Diné College.
    • Must not qualify for federal Pell Grant ProgramsMust have High Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
    • 5,329: Full-Time
    • 5,102: 3/4-Time
    • 4,701: Half-Time
    • Must not be in Default with any Student Loans
    • Must have been or continued enrollment with Diné College
    • Must have a standing Debt with Diné College ($415 or more)
    • Must agree to establish a payment plan with Finance Office in increments of 60% Outstanding Balance/40% Student Earnings or 80% Outstanding Balance /20% Student Earnings of payroll allocations. This program is designed to support student debt intervention and continuity of education by working off debt owed to the institution.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education & Experience


    Minimum:

    Must be continuing and returning students at Dine' College. Students who have an outstanding debt with Dine' College of a balance of $400.00 or more.


    Knowledge:

    Ability to perform accurate, detailed work, demonstrate the ability to work with a diverse student population and campus community, and demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment. Ability to adhere to work rules, follow directions, use time effectively, and meet deadlines. Ability to operate an office workstation, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, and other software.

    Must be able to follow the College's 3P Manual & Student Code of Conduct.

    Skills:

    Ability to work independently and with groups, dependable and responsible, detail-oriented, a sense of personal responsibility, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and Moderate experience with Audio and Visual, Setup. Knowledge and experience using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications (with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Publisher, Excel, and PowerPoint Presentation); Knowledge of Navajo Culture & Language Preferred Coordinate and organize meetings and special events.

    Abilities:

    Perform moderately complex clerical duties, assisting with data collection, compiling statistics, and maintaining long-range calendars of multiple venues. Coordinate multiple recreational, educational, and social programs. Work primarily, but not exclusively, in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential or work hazards; Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.

    Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:

    The position requires average ability and good physical condition; At times required to lift typical office equipment and supplies. Work may require sitting, near vision use for reading and computer use, lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, reaching, and other physical exertion. Able to work in a high-pressure office setting during peak business times.

    Other Requirement(s):

    Ability to speak Navajo, but not mandatory.
