The VP of Foundation is responsible for planning, execution management and evaluation of fundraising, public relations and education and outreach for UMC. The position works closely with all site leaders, the board of directors, board trustees of the foundation and fundraising volunteers to enhance and support the overall mission of the organization, and to assure that ample unrestricted and program funds are generated. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills, a proven track record in donor relations, and a deep understanding of philanthropy within the context of a faith-based organization.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan aligned with UMC's mission and core values through measurable goals of improving the following (inclusive of but not limited to): total funds raised, increased donor retention and giving, donor acquisition and rate, increase in average gift size, managing the cost per dollar of funds raised, expanding UMC's major gift pipeline, increased grant success rate, event ROI as well as increased donor and digital engagement.
- Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: Identify, develop, and maintain strong relationships with donors, supporters, and community partners through personalized communication, events, and outreach efforts.
- Major Gifts and Grants: Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts and grants from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other sources of support.
- Annual Fund and Campaigns: Oversee the planning and execution of annual fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, online giving, and special events.
- Legacy Giving: Develop and promote legacy giving programs to encourage planned gifts, bequests, and other long-term contributions.
- Board Engagement: Work closely with the Foundation Board of Trustees to engage members in fundraising activities, stewardship efforts, and donor cultivation.
- Data Management and Analysis: Utilize internal and external fundraising software and databases to track donor interactions, analyze giving trends, and generate reports for strategic decision-making.
- Public Relations and Marketing: Collaborate with the communications team to develop fundraising materials, donor recognition initiatives, and promotional campaigns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Fundraising, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, with a proven track record of success in securing major gifts, grants, and donations.
- Fundraising Executive Certification CFRE, preferred
- Knowledge of fundraising techniques, donor cultivation strategies, and philanthropic trends within the context of a faith-based organization.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport, inspire trust, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in grant writing, proposal development, and public speaking.
- Proficiency in fundraising software and database management systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Donor Perfect, Salesforce).
