Primary Function: As a member of the Senior Management team, the Vice President of Finance is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of all financial functions for BGCSDC which encompasses its Foundation, and the Florida Alliance Boys & Girls Clubs. This includes the management of accounting processes, budgeting, property management, annual audits, and the administration of property and liability insurance. The Vice President of Finance will provide strategic leadership to ensure the accurate and timely completion of daily accounting functions, supervising the finance department, fostering a collaborative environment, and overseeing the preparation of grant reports and financial reports. With a commitment to precision and compliance, the Vice President of Finance contributes to BGCSDC’s financial stability by implementing effective financial strategies, maintaining regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency within the finance department.
Position Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
Leadership
1. Establish and implement policies and procedures for all financial management functions, ensuring appropriate controls and compliance with generally accepted accounting practices.
2. Provide leadership to the department, setting strategic goals and objectives aligned with BGSDC’s financial priorities.
3. Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of the finance department, ensuring a skilled and highly functioning team.
Strategic Planning
1. Collaborate with Senior Management and Board of Directors to develop annual income and expense budget.
2. Provide timely and complete reporting of financial results and recommendations for necessary actions to maintain the fiscal health of BGCSDC.
3. Develop and implement risk management strategies, identifying potential financial threats and proposing mitigating actions.
4. Lead initiatives to optimize costs across the organization without compromising quality or efficiency.
5. Implement effective cash management strategies to optimize liquidity and working capital.
6. Work closely with Senior Management to:
Advancement
1. Support Advancement efforts to seek financial support and resources.
2. Preparation of the annual financial requests from various funding agencies.
3. Provide financial data and forecasts to support grant proposals and reporting.
4. Provide financial insights to Advancement regarding donor contributions and trends.
5. Collaborate with Advancement on strategies for donor stewardship, ensuring proper financial acknowledgment and reporting.
Resource Management
1. Lead organizational planning and development of operating and fund account budgets, and control expenditures against budget.
2. Implement cost control measures and regularly review expenses to ensure alignment with budgetary goals.
3. Oversee the maintenance of financial records and recordkeeping systems to ensure compliance with all regulations, generally accepted accounting practices and contractual requirements.
4. Oversee the process for identifying and evaluating opportunities for improved financial operations, record keeping and reporting, working with external auditors to prepare and review audit schedules and annual report of audit findings.
Additional Responsibilities
1. Provide financial education and guidance to non-finance departments, fostering a company-wide understanding of financial principles.
2. Convene and attend meetings of Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Club Directors, Finance Committee, and Investment Committee.
3. Create financial dashboards that provide insights into project costs, milestones, and financial performance.
4. May be assigned special projects such as financial considerations for construction projects.
Relationships:
Internal: Maintain contact with internal stake holders to provide technical assistance in matters of financial operations; interact regularly with Chief Executive Officer and the Board to develop fiscal policies, budgets, and to present regular reports in an advisory capacity.
External: Manage relationships with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and mitigate financial risks.
