Commercial Credit Analyst collects, reviews, and analyzes data to prepare a detailed credit analysis that evaluates the terms and creditworthiness of commercial loan applications. Uses multiple sources of information, including financial statements, collateral appraisals, credit scores, and cash flow analysis, to assign risk ratings to loans and complete an analysis of the applicant's financial status. Being a Commercial Credit Analyst calculates debt-to-income (DTI) ratios to evaluate an applicant's ability to repay the loan. Prepares credit memos in a standardized format that includes key ratios, supporting information, an executive summary, and objective recommendations. Additionally, Commercial Credit Analyst presents credit reports to loan officers and loan committees. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Commercial Credit Analyst work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.   • Overview:
    Responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the commercial lending function; coordinate work within the unit or department, as well as with other departments and units; report pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; respond to inquiries or requests for information.
    Responsibilities:
    • Provide a variety of duties to support the commercial lending function of which the following are illustrative:
      • Manage overall daily department work flow; recommend and develop new procedures as necessary in order to increase efficiency and productivity; work with other bank departments to ensure the customers receive quality service; make referrals when possible for other Company products.
      • Assist officers with customers’ inquiries; follow up with phone calls and written correspondence when necessary; coordinate loan closings and acts as liaison with closing attorneys and lenders.
      • Provide customer profiles to officers regarding existing customers’ account relationships by using in-house resources and on new customers by using internet research.
      • Responsible for general ledger account balancing and monthly certification to the Accounting department.
      • Review/monitor previous day’s entries processed by other department personnel for compliance, accuracy and accountability.
      • Accept and release negotiable collateral as instructed by officers.
      • Ensure the loan documents, bank money orders and collateral are properly protects.
      • Review and distribute reports to loan officers.
      • Process any loan maintenance necessary, providing documentation as necessary, ensuring that changes are within Company policy.
      • Prepare appropriate loan documents for customers to sign and disburse loan proceeds.
      • Forward all necessary documents to be filmed before being filed away.
      • Process loan advances according to note agreements.
      • Input necessary rate changes on loan collateralized by TCB CD’s.
      • Assemble information for directors’ reports, for bank auditors and state/federal examinations.
      • Prepare reports of all SBA loans and forwards the monthly remittance as directed by the SBA.
      • Obtain information and prepares reports for the Commercial Services department as directed.
      • Accompany officers on routine customer calls and schedule appointments.
      • Obtain credit bureau reports as necessary.
      • Assist and advise with daily overdrafts.
      • Maintain contact with customers, bank attorneys, realtors, insurance agents and accountants for the purpose of obtaining or providing information.
      • Assist staff when necessary to follow through and resolve complex problems.
      • Train staff and implement new procedures as required.
      • Act as back-up for wholesale/floorplan duties for daily note input and maintenance.
    • Coordinate specific work tasks other personnel within the unit or department as well as with other units and departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
    • Abide by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of sexual harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.
    • Cooperate with, participate in, and support the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness.
    • Report pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compile information necessary or as directed and provide data to appropriate Company personnel.
    • Respond to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other Company personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
    Qualifications:
    • A High School Diploma or equivalent; additional education preferred.
    • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in related positions normally required or comparable formal education normally required.
    • Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills.
    • Proficient PC skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Lotus, and the internet.
    • A working knowledge of current lending procedures and operations.
    • Visual and auditory skills.
