Commercial Credit Analyst jobs in Port Arthur, TX

Commercial Credit Analyst collects, reviews, and analyzes data to prepare a detailed credit analysis that evaluates the terms and creditworthiness of commercial loan applications. Uses multiple sources of information, including financial statements, collateral appraisals, credit scores, and cash flow analysis, to assign risk ratings to loans and complete an analysis of the applicant's financial status. Being a Commercial Credit Analyst calculates debt-to-income (DTI) ratios to evaluate an applicant's ability to repay the loan. Prepares credit memos in a standardized format that includes key ratios, supporting information, an executive summary, and objective recommendations. Additionally, Commercial Credit Analyst presents credit reports to loan officers and loan committees. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Commercial Credit Analyst work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     Responsible for consulting with and informing members or prospective members of different loans and credit options, reviewing financial information and building various applications through a variety of channels. Highly motivated and influential with a strong emphasis on sales and results orientation to ensure the credit union maximizes lending and sales opportunities, including loan, deposits, products, etc.  Interviews applicants, assembles and evaluates loan applications and explains credit policies.  Makes outbound sales calls from a lead list or leads found oneself.  Meets or exceeds assigned production and service level goals that support the credit union strategic objectives of becoming a market leader with regard to member experience and convenience. Ensures members and prospective members are promptly and professionally served.  Provides general credit union information and effectively cross-sells credit union products and services. 

     ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 

    Assumes responsibility for effectively consulting members during the loan application process. 
    Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relationships.

     

    NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 

    Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and communication with area personnel and management. 
    Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned. 

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

    Education/Certification:     

    Equivalent to a two-year business-related college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or equivalent experience.

    Required Knowledge:        

    Knowledge of Credit Union loan services, policies and procedures.
    Understanding of related legal and regulatory standards and required loan documentation.
    Knowledge of consumer and residential lending practices.

     

    Experience Required:            

    One to two years of varied office experience preferred.
    Minimum one year experience in loan consulting or sales.
     
    Skills/Abilities:                        
    Excellent interviewing, communication, and public relations skills.
    Proficient in sales tools and interviewing techniques.
    Well organized.
    Good decision-making skills.
    Strong analytical skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
    Good morale and teamwork abilities.

    Self-motivated.
    Ability to operate related computer applications and related business equipment.

    Ability to maintain an effective and efficient workflow, as well as attainment of departmental goals.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Experience Preferred:             
    Two to five years of experience in loan consulting or sales.
    Financial Institution experience preferred.
    Call Center experience preferred. 
     
    PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
    FINGER DEXTERITY: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together. 
    TALKING: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.  
    REPETITIVE MOTIONS: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.  
    AVERAGE HEARING: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.  
    AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.  
    PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time.  Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. (Almost all office jobs.)
