Commercial Credit Analyst collects, reviews, and analyzes data to prepare a detailed credit analysis that evaluates the terms and creditworthiness of commercial loan applications. Uses multiple sources of information, including financial statements, collateral appraisals, credit scores, and cash flow analysis, to assign risk ratings to loans and complete an analysis of the applicant's financial status. Being a Commercial Credit Analyst calculates debt-to-income (DTI) ratios to evaluate an applicant's ability to repay the loan. Prepares credit memos in a standardized format that includes key ratios, supporting information, an executive summary, and objective recommendations. Additionally, Commercial Credit Analyst presents credit reports to loan officers and loan committees. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Commercial Credit Analyst work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     Purpose: * Utilize analytical, organizational and communication skills to evaluate the financial condition of commercial loan borrowers (individuals/businesses), prepare credit packages and complete credit administration duties - demonstrating effective partnership with the lending/credit staff.
    They will also exercise responsibilities in the following functional areas:

    • Takes ownership, acting with a sense of urgency, working to meet/exceed expectations and deadlines.
    • Analyzes new, renewal and existing loans and risk exposures utilizing various financial statements, credit reports and other sources as applicable.
    • Utilize effectively the available analytical systems and tools.
    • Complete credit packages that demonstrate well thought out and concise analysis that identifies key risks and provides for appropriate mitigation, where appropriate.
    • Partners with lending staff to work with customers/prospects and makes sales and relationship calls with Loan Officers.
    • Assists in management of portfolio to assure timely receipt and review of financial information on existing relationships. Will work with customers directly to request information as needed.
    • Provide portfolio management assistance to loan officers - working with customers as needed.
    • Provides technical advice and assistance to loan officers.
    • Utilize excellent oral and written communication skills for effective discussions both internally and externally.
    • Effectively manage the risk of the portfolio through ongoing monitoring.
    • Excellent working knowledge of credit policy and guidelines to assist in appropriate structuring.
    • Complete credit risk administration tasks which may include, but not be limited to, loan documentation review/closings, appraisal/collateral reviews, real estate evaluations, and construction risk monitoring.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Required Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics or equivalent banking/finance experience.
    • Formal credit analysis training a plus.
    • Financial analytical abilities supported by significant accounting and finance knowledge.
    • Demonstrated skills as follows: excellent verbal/written communication, interpersonal, problem solving and detail oriented.
    • Demonstrate resourcefulness and ability to take initiative in development and completion of projects.
    • Strong team player: able to work well with a wide range of people.
    • Strong proficiency in PC applications including various software packages, including word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and presentation, and banking systems.
    • Sound judgment, decision-making ability, and the ability to work in pressure situations.
    • Ability to work within a team environment.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to effectively utilize analytical systems and tools.
    • Ability to independently establish priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Discretion and respect for confidential matters.
