Commercial Credit Analyst collects, reviews, and analyzes data to prepare a detailed credit analysis that evaluates the terms and creditworthiness of commercial loan applications. Uses multiple sources of information, including financial statements, collateral appraisals, credit scores, and cash flow analysis, to assign risk ratings to loans and complete an analysis of the applicant's financial status. Being a Commercial Credit Analyst calculates debt-to-income (DTI) ratios to evaluate an applicant's ability to repay the loan. Prepares credit memos in a standardized format that includes key ratios, supporting information, an executive summary, and objective recommendations. Additionally, Commercial Credit Analyst presents credit reports to loan officers and loan committees. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Commercial Credit Analyst work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     In conjunction with the Commercial Loan Committee, the Credit Analyst develops, maintains, and implements sound credit policies & procedures. Responsible for the processing of daily credit transactions per the credit policy and procedure manuals; maintains records and files on all credit transactions, including correspondence and documents.

    Responsibilities

    • Develops credit policies & procedures consistent with sound commercial loan underwriting.
    • Manages daily processing of credit transactions. Performs initial credit analysis to determine eligibility based on existing policies and procedures. Prepares and manages documentation for credit transactions.
    • Compiles and analyzes reports on Credit Union members’ credit obligations, along with monitoring Criticized Asset Reports, NPA Project plan, and OREO reports.
    • Monitors all credit activity to ensure daily assignments have been completed such as processing adjustable rate changes, maintaining amortization factors, and preparing necessary correspondence.
    • Provides education and support to Credit Union members and TEAM related to credit policies, procedures, and guidelines. Prepares reports and other information as requested for the Credit and Risk Committee.
    • Oversees the Loan exception tracking system.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience required. Position requires a significant level of trust and diplomacy in addition to common courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and deals with confidential and/or sensitive information. Requires the ability to foster and grow sound relationships with other companies and/or individuals, and requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others. Candidate must possess working proficiency with standard computer operating software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
