ROCK Commercial Real Estate, LLC is a commercial real estate brokerage firm specializing in the sale, leasing and management of commercial real estate in southcentral Pennsylvania and northern Maryland. ROCK is seeking an Accounting Assistant to work 20-40 hours per week in its York office to support ROCK’s growing property management accounting function.
While accounting knowledge and skills are essential, this position does not require any prior commercial real estate experience, just a sincere commitment to take the initiative to learn all necessary aspects of the industry with respect to the job functions. The primary focus of this position is the performance of all accounting tasks associated with the properties that ROCK manages on behalf of its clients.
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:
Learn, understand and effectively implement accounting functions related to the commercial real estate industry
Handle all aspects of Accounts Payable function (invoice review, account allocation, payment (check or electronic), mailing, filing, scanning, obtaining W-9s, assisting with the processing of 1099s, vendor inquiries)
Handle all aspects of Accounts Receivable function (billing, collections, late calls, deposits, filing, landlord and tenant inquiries)
Handle various aspects of General Ledger function (account reconciliation, analysis) and provide assistance in other areas (budgeting, financial statement processing, reporting) until qualified to assume full responsibility
Cash management responsibilities (account maintenance, bank reconciliations, monitor daily activity)
Assist with Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations until qualified to assume full responsibility
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, co-workers, landlords, tenants, vendors, etc.
Ability to consistently manage time effectively to meet daily work deadlines while handling a variety of tasks
Utilize ROCK’s commercial real estate accounting software and CRM software to enter and update pertinent information concerning landlords, tenants, prospects, vendors, etc.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in accounting or 1-2 years of related work experience required; commercial real estate experience or lease administration knowledge preferred
Competency with Microsoft Office Suite products and Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate accounting software preferred or relevant experience with similar accounting software programs
Experience with data entry and management including the ability to enter data accurately and efficiently with relentless attention to detail
Dependable self-starter with excellent customer service habits, exceptional organizational abilities, outstanding problem-solving skills and strong work ethic
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a very cohesive team to meet goals and objectives
Work schedule is flexible between the hours of 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday in ROCK’s York office
