Strategic Responsibility:
Research and recommend print and bind manufacturers for the objective of fulfilling the goal of DCC's business model. Conduct vendor interviews and provide written recommendations for best sources of supply for book and ancillary product manufacturing. Complete and thorough implementation and execution of product's manufacture from inception through receipt at warehouse and review of job details costs, quality and service performance upon completion. Assist Production Coordinators with understanding print process and recommending product specs to maximize value and reduce cost. Combine vendor's core competency and equipment configuration with DCC specifications and make recommendations on specifications changes to facilitate most cost effective and efficient method to manufacture product.
Job Description:
Secure estimates from various vendors in compliance with project specifications
Research efficiencies in specifications of DCC product and make recommendations to enhance product integrity and costing.
Execute the purchase of DCC printed products and complete follow through
Make suggestions to vendors on improving productivity to enhance costing on CCM product
Interface with vendors; provide evaluation of services offered and provided by vendors, including costing,
communications, quality and services; identify best fit for DCC products.
Coordinate with vendor and/or freight forwarder on inbound freight to maximize efficiency and cost savings.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Formal Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or related field required
Experience: Minimum three four (3-4) years working the printing/binding manufacturing field
Specialized Knowledge/Experience: Strong knowledge of electronic prepress, press operations (both web and sheet fed) and binding in many formats. Working knowledge of printing and publishing industry specifications and processes is required. Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) preferred.
Equipment Knowledge: PC skills, MS Office, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Some Macintosh knowledge also helpful.
