We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Supply Chain Buyer to join our team. In this multifaceted role, you will be instrumental in our organization's success actively participating supply chain operations, executing strategic initiatives, and fulfilling the role of a purchaser.
Primary Function: As a hands-on professional, your primary responsibilities will include demand planning, ensuring product flow, optimizing inventory management, and enhancing operational efficiency. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and process improvement, with a focus on meeting customer demand, achieving operational excellence, and procuring materials, components, supplies, equipment, and services the best possible costs and terms while maintaining quality standards, stock levels, and manufacturing/delivery schedules.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sourcing and Procurement: Identify, select, and negotiate with suppliers for raw materials. Initiate, monitor, and maintain good business relationships with all vendors. Review and approve purchase requisitions and maintain procedures for processing purchase orders, and records, and maintains vendor catalogs, literature, and price lists. Maintain catalog file for reference.
- Demand Forecasting: Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts by analyzing historical data, market trends, and customer feedback to anticipate product requirements. Understand and follow raw material markets to drive strategic purchases to reduce exposure to price increases.
- Inventory Management: Optimize inventory levels to ensure efficient stock management while balancing the costs associated with carrying excess inventory.
- Lead Time Management: Monitor supplier lead times and work closely with vendors to reduce lead times and ensure on-time deliveries. Identify leading and lagging indicators that may determine business success over the short and long term.
- Risk Assessment: Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, such as potential shortages or disruptions, to ensure continuous production.
- Quality Control: Ensure that purchased materials and components meet quality standards and specifications, conducting quality checks and inspections as needed.
- Supply Chain Optimization: Ensure an efficient and smooth flow of materials from suppliers to production, considering aspects like inventory management, logistics, and cost-effectiveness. Maintain purchasing records such as computerized purchase order and receiving files.
- Collaboration with Operations: Work closely with the operations team to align procurement activities with production schedules, quality control measures, and meeting production targets.
- Ongoing Optimization: Analyze supply chain performance, identify areas for improvement, and implementing changes to enhance overall operations.
- Reporting: Prepare and present reports to management on key procurement and demand planning metrics, highlighting achievements and challenges
