RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create, place, and manage purchase orders for the delivery of product to satisfy sales demand and stock levels
- Adjust Safety Stock parameters in MRP as needed
- Develop vendor relations, analyzing demand, understanding market conditions, and ensure competitive pricing
- Update costs and supplier information
- Maintain proper inventory levels
- Reviews bulk tanks levels and orders railcars and tank trucks as needed
- Works closely with Operations on projects to optimize ISO processes, eliminating waste and increasing margins
- Works with Sales and Customer Service teams to ensure timely delivery of product and meet customer expectations
- Negotiate freight costs and update carrier information via Chempax.
- Negotiate external freight rates
- Secure and Schedule common carriers and Webb drivers as needed for the purchasing department.
- Ensure carriers know Webb’s requirements
- Works closely with team mates, Warehouse, Customer Service, Quality and Transportation
- Motivated to research, analyze, and make decisions
- Able to do what needs to be done instead of ask what needs to be done
- Ability to read product specifications
- Request and verify updates on SDS’s, specification/technical sheets and Cofa’s.
- Understand and be able to operate in Webb’s ERP system (Chempax) and other support systems (ie. Trello) as needed in the procurement department
- Help source new products from existing vendors for sales department
- ISO
- Play a significant role in the success of the ISO processes at Webb including documentation, training, and the importance of the purchasing function
- Projects
- Responsible for many cross-functional projects in multiple areas of the company

SKILLS REQUIRED- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or Associate’s with equivalent work experience in Purchasing
- Prior experience in Chemical Industry strongly preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong social awareness
- Ability to hear and see
- Willingness to learn and observe
- Recognition of verbal and non-verbal cues
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Competent in mathematics and unit conversions
- Problem-solving skills
- Strong data entry and organizational skills
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
