Commodity Manager implements a commodity procurement and inventory strategy that supports a company's manufacturing supply chain. Manages the policies and processes to purchase raw materials required to process and manufacture products, conduct research, or enable other business activities. Being a Commodity Manager monitors and analyzes the commodities market, global economic conditions, and events to make informed purchase decisions. Identifies, evaluates, and monitors suppliers and develops relationships to provide reliable sourcing and ensure the quality and availability of required commodities. Additionally, Commodity Manager oversees bidding and contract negotiations to obtain the best pricing to meet commodity needs. Analyzes inventory levels, manufacturing schedules, and long-term business objectives to plan and manage purchases. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and standards governing the purchase and delivery of goods. Requires a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Commodity Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Commodity Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     UCT is looking for a talented Manager, Commodity to join us in Austin, TX! The main function of this role is to increase company margins by negotiating and driving down the costs of sourced products. This involves a thorough understanding of what makes up the specific categories and how the components impact overall costs. Also, the category manager must be the main point of contact for all supply chain-related issues within their categories and supply base. Category management is responsible for supplier selection, supplier qualification and negotiating to ensure contract terms are favorable to UCT.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develops, aligns and implements category management strategies for BTP (Build to Print – Machining) based on business needs and market condition.
    • Uses category strategies as the basis for supplier sourcing & selection, cost reduction, margin improvement and overall supply chain management.
    • Source and identify new business partners to meet the changing requirement of the organization.
    • Contract Management including NDA, GSA, Inventory management program etc. Negotiation of commercial terms, pricing, lead time, MOQ, incoterm etc.
    • Manages and fosters relationships with UCTs' supply base and drives resolution to conflicts.
    • Manage and drive on-time project completion (from FA qualification to Phase In/Out etc) to optimize realization of cost savings.
    • Drives resolution to systemic supply chain issues affecting quality, cost, delivery, or lead-time, which may include engagement with sub-tiers in the supply chain.
    • Develops and presents high-level cost reduction opportunities to all UCT sites for execution.
    • Organize and lead in Supplier Business Review (SBR) and category review meetings.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Extremely high level of knowledge of categories and a thorough understanding of category management strategies for product.
    • Knowledge of supply chain management, procurement, materials management, manufacturing processes, business fundamentals/finance.
    • Able to work under pressure and independently or with a cross functional team.
    • Innovative, analytical, solution-oriented mindset with problem solving and strategic thinking skills in order to evaluate and provide actionable insights.
    • Proven record of success in cost negotiation and contract implementation.
    • Advanced project/program management skills and abilities.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to learn new technologies and manufacturing processes (aptitude/proficiency).
    • Ability to build and lead cross-functional teams.
    • Strong matrix management abilities.
    • Relationship building abilities.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills, strong negotiation skills.

    Educational/Certification Requirement:

    • BS/BSE level degree in Supply Chain Management / Engineering / Business administration / or related technical discipline required.

    Experience Requirement:

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in category management in manufacturing environment, semiconductor related experience will be a plus.
