Commodity Manager implements a commodity procurement and inventory strategy that supports a company's manufacturing supply chain. Manages the policies and processes to purchase raw materials required to process and manufacture products, conduct research, or enable other business activities. Being a Commodity Manager monitors and analyzes the commodities market, global economic conditions, and events to make informed purchase decisions. Identifies, evaluates, and monitors suppliers and develops relationships to provide reliable sourcing and ensure the quality and availability of required commodities. Additionally, Commodity Manager oversees bidding and contract negotiations to obtain the best pricing to meet commodity needs. Analyzes inventory levels, manufacturing schedules, and long-term business objectives to plan and manage purchases. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and standards governing the purchase and delivery of goods. Requires a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Commodity Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Commodity Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     We are looking for a talented Commodity Manager! The Commodity Manager position participates as a leader on the Purchasing team and is responsible for acquiring direct materials for JJE North America. Key responsibilities include managing the sourcing process, supplier selection, managing commercial relationships with the supply base and being responsible for their overall performance. Strong interpersonal abilities, technical skills and the overall potential to assume a Purchasing Manager position in the near future.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Create commodity strategies that drive improved overall performance and competitiveness through the supply chain, with a focus on electric drive module (EDM) and sub-assembly components like the motor, PIM, and transmission.
    • Negotiate supplier commercial matters including piece price, tooling, supply agreements, payment terms, standard terms and cost reductions.
    • Manage sourcing activities for assigned direct commodities by conducting competitive bidding events with prospective suppliers and recommending supplier nominations to internal stakeholders.
    • Develop and motivate the supply base by rewarding high performance with new business opportunities to foster healthy relationships.
    • Enhance North America profitability by negotiating cost reductions and other improvements. Monitor commodity market trends of critical raw materials and leverage favorable price swings.
    • Support supplier quality management by working with the Quality and Engineering teams to resolve supplier quality problems. Facilitate quality claim discussions caused by suppliers.
    • Support data management process improvement activities (such as ERP/SRM/Portal), including master supplier data, supplier scorecard and spend analytics.
    • Follow the JJENA Code of Ethics, abide by all relevant laws, regulations and company policies, and avoid any inappropriate behavior with suppliers, and support an open and fair environment.
    • Other related activities as required.
    Experience and Skills:

    Skills and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance or related field
    • Advanced oral and written communication skills, fluency in Spanish is preferred
    • 7 years of purchasing experience in the automotive industry
    • 3 years of work experience in multi-national company and/or multi-cultural environment
    • Experienced work in multiple functions in auto industry.
    • Familiar with purchasing and quality processes in auto industry.
    • Have extensive knowledge and skills managing supplier commercial matters, negotiations and supplier quality troubleshooting, as well as business litigation, etc.
    • Knowledge of eDrive materials and components is a plus.
    • Proficient with PC and Office tools.
    • Strong interpersonal abilities, technical skills and the overall potential to assume a Purchasing Manager position in the near future.
    • High level of professionalism and accountability.
    • Strategic mindset and the ability to see the bigger picture Strong sense of responsibility. Commitment to company interests.
    • Able to work under pressure. Committed to high quality work and guide team for quality work.
    • Experienced in problem solving with cross functional approach.
    • Solid sense of ownership with ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous work-streams.
