Commodity Manager implements a commodity procurement and inventory strategy that supports a company's manufacturing supply chain. Manages the policies and processes to purchase raw materials required to process and manufacture products, conduct research, or enable other business activities. Being a Commodity Manager monitors and analyzes the commodities market, global economic conditions, and events to make informed purchase decisions. Identifies, evaluates, and monitors suppliers and develops relationships to provide reliable sourcing and ensure the quality and availability of required commodities. Additionally, Commodity Manager oversees bidding and contract negotiations to obtain the best pricing to meet commodity needs. Analyzes inventory levels, manufacturing schedules, and long-term business objectives to plan and manage purchases. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and standards governing the purchase and delivery of goods. Requires a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Commodity Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Commodity Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     In this role you will have the opportunity to:

    • Be a vital informal Supply Chain leader for a segment of the Royal Technologies business, you will be the Owner of Sourcing Analysis for assigned commodities, responsible for generating and driving orders to the supply base, seeking out improvements for buying practices, inventory turns, and inventory dollars, making an impact on the organization with strategic thinking and planning.

    • You will Collaborate cross functionally and independently with internal/external stakeholders to provide the most efficient and cost effective methods of buying while achieving required KPI’s.

    • Data Driven and analysis of trends and KPI’s that provide insight into opportunities where we can be better tomorrow than today.  Incorporate findings and take action so that we effectively serve our stakeholders with the best information at the lead times to make solid decisions.

    • Being curious while evaluating forecasts against manufacturing needs while remaining pivotal in managing inventory dollars and turn. Coordinating cross-functional continuous improvement activities; Advising, coaching, and providing candid feedback to bring out the best in the process working to develop the current and future process to excellence.

    • Advocate for “Royal” yet be Service minded seeking to exceed our Customers increasing expectations for agility and delivery.

    • Proactively and effectively balance inventory dollars and inventory turn in the best possible way while still allowing the business to continue to delight their customers, manufacture effectively, and achieve the business key measures.

    • Operate with Excellence and champion and elevate the key issues (capacity constraints, late shipments, etc) to stakeholders (sales, manufacturing, and sourcing managers) connected for specified areas of the business

    • Effectively communicate with data and all levels of the Royal Organization and our supply base - shop floor to the Corner Office and positive engagement with internal and external customers for any required updates

    • Maintain relationships with internal and external business partners to include suppliers, supervisors and team leads, logistics/warehouse groups and material planners

    Skills and Requirements
    • Bachelors in Supply Chain Management or Business Management from an accredited institution
    • 3 years minimum in Supply Chain (Materials Management, Inventory management, supply planning, procurement)
    • 3 years minimum working within an ERP system (QAD preferred) 
    • Critical thinker with strong mathematical and analytical skills
    • Ability to create relationships with internal and external customers
    • Process-minded and continuous improvement focused
    • Demonstrated ability to identify and evaluate alternative solutions to meet business needs
    • Collaborative skills and ability to work in a virtual work environment telling the story with data
    • Great communication, interpersonal skills, and team player
