Commodity Manager implements a commodity procurement and inventory strategy that supports a company's manufacturing supply chain. Manages the policies and processes to purchase raw materials required to process and manufacture products, conduct research, or enable other business activities. Being a Commodity Manager monitors and analyzes the commodities market, global economic conditions, and events to make informed purchase decisions. Identifies, evaluates, and monitors suppliers and develops relationships to provide reliable sourcing and ensure the quality and availability of required commodities. Additionally, Commodity Manager oversees bidding and contract negotiations to obtain the best pricing to meet commodity needs. Analyzes inventory levels, manufacturing schedules, and long-term business objectives to plan and manage purchases. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and standards governing the purchase and delivery of goods. Requires a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Commodity Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Commodity Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Job Description
    Plans and procures materials and services to meet all contractual specifications. Performs pre and post award procurement administration of activities. Ensures best value is obtained including 100% quality and delivery.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Prepares and issues Request for Quote (RFQ). Incorporates technical, quality, contractual and schedule requirements properly into RFQ.
    • Generates and commits orders up to $150,000 without management review. Coordinates and ensures management review and approval of orders over $150,000.
    • Complies with internal company and government requirements through documentation per LOB processes.
    • Identifies suppliers, including Small Business (SB), Small Disadvantaged Business (SBD), Women Owned Business (WOB), Hub-Zone, Veteran, and Service-Disabled Veteran Businesses.
    • Selects suppliers, including application of appropriate level of cost/price/technical analysis performed, in accordance with OG/LOB policies and procedures and applicable government regulations.
    • Analyzes work direction to administrative support personnel as needed. Participates on commodity teams.
    • Initiates necessary management reviews and audits with suppliers. Travel as required to monitor total supplier management.
    • Responsible for the prompt closeout of completed orders.
    • Responsible for total supplier quality and delivery performance at the best value.
    • Responsible for total supplier performance throughout the life cycle of procured materials and services.
    • Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies.
    • Shares responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor.


    Required Education, Experience, & Skills
    • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration or equivalent.
    • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    • Sound interpersonal skills used when interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers.
    • Ability to use computers to prepare appropriate reports and documents.
    • Ability to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
    • Ability to develop/demonstrate research and presentation skills.
    • Ability to develop and maintain professional and dependable relationships with internal and external customers.


    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
    • Experience with relevant applications in a defense environment.


    Pay Information
    Full-Time Salary Range: $58300 - $99100

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
