Communications Director directs an organization's internal and external communications strategies and programs. Directs and oversees communications programs that effectively describe and promote the organization and its products. Being a Communications Director may conduct market or public opinion research to assess program outcomes. Strategic Communications:
• Develop a comprehensive communications and public relations program that will enhance the Organization’s image and position within the marketplace and the general public. Develop and manage communication timelines for Live! Hospitality & Entertainment project, venue, partnership, and corporate team member announcements
• Oversee regional marketing team members to set PR goals that align with marketing goals and revenue growth and identify opportunities in paid, owned, and earned media
• Collaborate with and direct social teams on various campaigns and announcements
• Seek out and vet speaking opportunities for leadership to participate in that positions Live! Hospitality & Entertainment and its team members as industry-leading and best-in-class; Create presentations, write talking points and practice presentations as needed
• Assist corporate PR team with various new project and venue milestones
• Ensure that the Organization regularly conducts relevant market research and coordinate and oversee this activity. Monitor communication trends.
Media Relations
• Oversee media relations, pitching, incoming press inquiries and secure media placements for Live! Hospitality & Entertainment, key Live! Concepts, executive team and team members as appropriate
• Manage agencies to oversee development and production of press materials and media events to support sales, marketing programs and brand awareness
• Serve as primary communications contact for media for Live! Hospitality & Entertainment
• Act as official spokesperson and represent Live! at events as needed
• Lead a group of team members to set goals and execute PR plans; review, edit and approve press materials; oversee and support event planning for major press events; provide direction on media inquiries; approve PR agency budgets and manage agency performance
• Coordinate media training for company spokespeople as needed
• Monitor press coverage and produce press clip reports
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with new and traditional media and influencers nationwide
Crisis Communication:
• Serve as primary communications contact for Live! Hospitality & Entertainment and Live! Concepts for all aspects of crisis communications
• Brief ownership, members of executive team and external development/civic partners as appropriate; strategize on best PR practices for confidential and sensitive topics
• Develop crisis communications strategies and provide clear direction to executive teams, and project leadership, operations, marketing and communications teams
• Manage media inquiries and requests
• Write and edit press statements
• Communicate clear and directly to media off-the-record via phone and email
• Maintain internal crisis communication contact lists for Live! Hospitality & Entertainment, as well as partner/civic communications teams
Skills:
• Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of communications and public relations activities
• Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with media
• Ideal candidate is self-motivated, confident, and passionate.
• Solid PC skills, including Microsoft Office systems
• Energetic, open to collaborative environment, business minded, strategic and creative
• Self-starter who is results-oriented
• Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
• Ability to solve complex problems.
• Flexibility to travel out of state
Education:
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in marketing, communications, or public relations with demonstrated success.
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, public relations preferred
