Communications Director directs an organization's internal and external communications strategies and programs. Directs and oversees communications programs that effectively describe and promote the organization and its products. Being a Communications Director may conduct market or public opinion research to assess program outcomes. Suggests promotional campaign ideas in various types of media, as well as counsels top management on effective communication strategies. Additionally, Communications Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Communications Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Communications Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Working under the direction of the Vice President of Operations, the Director will be responsible for leading internal and external communications at St. Joseph healthcare and identifying and establishing local business development, marketing and measurement strategies. This work may include, but is not limited to: managing local partnerships with area businesses, media partners, organizations, and physicians and providers – supporting increased visibility of local facilities and programs throughout the local community as well as supporting service line goals and objectives in order to achieve overall business retention and growth/volume/revenue goals for their local facility and the health system.

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
    • Minimum of Three years’ experience or more in healthcare marketing and/or communications work.
    • Minimum of Three years or more experience in a healthcare setting.
