Communications Director directs an organization's internal and external communications strategies and programs. Directs and oversees communications programs that effectively describe and promote the organization and its products. Being a Communications Director may conduct market or public opinion research to assess program outcomes. Suggests promotional campaign ideas in various types of media, as well as counsels top management on effective communication strategies. Additionally, Communications Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Communications Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Communications Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     The Director of Communications will create, organize, plan, and implement effective communications messages and strategies; support church and ministry leaders in conveying their vision and communications priorities to appropriate audiences.The Director of Communications will create, organize, plan, and implement effective communications messages and strategies; support church and ministry leaders in conveying their vision and communications priorities to appropriate audiences.

    Main Responsibilities

    ● Work with church staff and ministry leaders to define, develop, and effectively communicate messages church-wide and to the community

    ● Manage the First Church DeLand brand to ensure consistency, presence, and quality

    ● Cultivate, lead, and manage a team of volunteers as needed

    ● Work with First Church DeLand leadership and members to effectively communicate the goals and mission of First Church DeLand

    ● Oversee creation of original content and ministry branding

    ● Strategize and organize communications on all platforms in order to best serve ministry needs

    ● Provide communications resources for all campaign and special events as needed

    ● Develop ways to creatively and effectively communicate our church “stories” through all forms of media

    ● Write, adapt, and/or edit communications messages for use in various media

    ● Grow, develop, and instruct a team of presenters for video announcements, live welcome, and special events (as needed)

    ● Plan and Manage the operational budget for the Communications Ministry

    ● Others duties as needed by Pastor

    ● Competency - Proficient with graphic design, social media, and video production

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee may reach, climb, walk, stand, stoop, drive, balance or push to complete job task. Employee may work in an office environment or in occasional outdoor video productions. May work in or with moving vehicles and/or equipment.
