    Summary:

    The Director of Internal & Presidential Communications represents the interests and priorities of the Office of the President through the development of written communications and branded materials, occasionally collaborating with external design firms as needed. Reporting to the President, the director will draft presidential communications, such as reports and newsletters. In collaboration with the President and other Office of the President team members, the director will assist in creating and implementing a strategic communication plan to foster informative transparency and clarity for the campus community on behalf of the administration. Presidential Responsibilities will also include branding and communicating updates on strategic planning and implementation efforts, ensuring that unified, consistent, and positive messaging define and promote the College’s identity and mission.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develop and direct creative executive of content to provide a consistent, targeted, and inclusive messaging for the campus community.
    • Represent the interests and priorities of the Office of the President through written communications.
    • In collaboration with the Senior Executive Assistant, engage in various research and writing support for the President, including drafting and/or editing emails and letters, monthly President’s Reports, speeches, and other communications and miscellaneous documents.
    • Oversee the implementation of a campus-wide calendar.
    • Build and maintain solid partnerships with campus colleagues to develop, coordinate, direct, and facilitate strategic communications designed to meet departmental and institution-wide goals.
    • Develop and implement a dynamic communication plan for administrative decisions, campus-wide matters of interest, and strategic planning and implementation efforts.
    • Work with leadership to take the pulse of overall College activity to identify cross-marketing opportunities.
    • Stay informed of developments in the field of marketing and communications within the industry to foster ideas and innovation.

    Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty and students.

    Education required to ensure success in this position:
    • Master’s degree in business, communications or a similar field required.

    Experience required to ensure success in this position:
    • A minimum of three years of higher education experience in a public communications role or similar executive-level experience.

    Special skills, knowledge and abilities:
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Versatile copy-writing skills.
    • Strong ability to exercise discretion, sound judgement, and maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to prioritize multiple high-priority tasks with meticulous attention to detail.
    • Dexterity with graphic design, email, Word, Excel, presentation tools, and cloud-based software platforms.
    • Desire to take full ownership of assigned projects and ability to work independently with a sense of self-urgency.
    • Proactive approaches to resolving problems and issues.
