    Work Schedule:              Full-time, exempt 

    Monday – Friday with occasional weekend and evening work

    DESCRIPTION:

    The Director of Marketing & Communications will help sustain and promote a favorable image for Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County (BGCMC).  S/he will identify avenues to achieve positive outcomes related to marketing, branding, and communications for the organization.  This individual must be strategic, exceptionally organized, and demonstrate the ability to communicate with diverse groups in the community.  S/he will work effectively with vendors, media and the public.  S/he will ensure organizational materials, publications (digital and print), and press releases are accurate and consistent with the organization’s mission, vision and branding standards.

    The  Director is responsible for print, online and digital materials for BGCMC including, but not limited to the website, social media, program flyers/templates, informational brochures, e-newsletters, event collateral, sponsor recognition, and annual reports. S/he must have the ability to meet deadlines, be proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability and attention to detail are equally important.

    PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

    Reporting to the President/CEO, in accordance with the national B&GCA guidelines and in collaboration with the Development Department, the Director will:

    • Manage a comprehensive annual communications plan, inclusive of program information, activities, and services and impact; campaigns and events; corporate and foundation partnerships; and donor communications and recognition.
    • Manage the organization’s website and social media presence.
    • Maintain organizational branding and creative standards.
    • Help develop, craft and manage the organization’s external communications content library including program information, success stories, impact quotes, as well as the photo and video library.
    • Ensure that all marketing production needs are fulfilled in a timely manner consistent with schedules, plans, and promotions.  
    • Promote all organizational programs, events, campaigns, and partnerships; and support all production elements (videos, photography, design, print production, etc).
    • Manage mass communications through text, email, automated messaging, and e-marketing systems.
    • Determine effective outreach strategies for segmented audiences.
    • Maintain positive media relations and activate media coverage of club programs, including writing and disseminating press releases and media alerts, arranging interviews and media appearances.
    • Interact with Club youth and their families through interviews, film production and special events.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Environmental and Working Conditions:

    • This position requires the ability to perform work in an office setting, in public forums, and in a highly interactive and dynamic environment. Regular travel to events and between club sites is required. Must have a reliable and accessible mode of transportation.


    Requirements

     QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 4 year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience, preferably in marketing, public affairs, fundraising or related disciplines
    • A minimum of 4 years of related work experience
    • Demonstrated ability in applying principles and practices related to:
      • Developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships and public relations
      • Media relations 
      • Collateral and content development and production management
      • Social media methodologies
      • Public speaking and presentation skills
      • Graphic Design tools including html, Adobe, Wordpress, etc. (portfolio samples may be requested)
      • Segmenting and tailoring communication to target audiences
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook,  and Adobe InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator
    • Demonstration of strong project management and organizational skills

    Highly Desirable Qualifications:

    • Experience using Blackbaud
    • Oral and written fluency in Spanish
    • Experience in the Boys  & Girls Clubs Movement

    COMPENSATION: $94,429,000-$110,000 based on qualifications and experience.  Paid benefits package includes five weeks paid vacation, 11 paid holidays, 12 days paid sick leave, medical, vision, dental, life and disability insurance and pension and 403(b) deferral options.  Professional development opportunities are available contingent upon funding and approval.  This position is classified as exempt and as such is not eligible for the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
