Communications Director directs an organization's internal and external communications strategies and programs. Directs and oversees communications programs that effectively describe and promote the organization and its products. Being a Communications Director may conduct market or public opinion research to assess program outcomes. Suggests promotional campaign ideas in various types of media, as well as counsels top management on effective communication strategies. Additionally, Communications Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Communications Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Communications Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Assistant News Director
Palm Springs, CA | Full Time
Summary
We are looking for a candidate that will run day to day editorial coverage for our Local News TV station. The Assistant News Director must have strong news judgment and the ability to lead and inspire a highly talented news team.
Essential Functions
1. Implement and accomplishes goals set with and by the News Director
2. Identifies, analyzes and trouble shoots problems or issues in the News Department
Supervisory Responsibility
Reports directly to the News Director
Required Education and Experience
1. Strong news judgment
2. Minimum of 2 years if supervisory experience
3. 5 years of relevant work experience
4. Ability to work independently under tight deadlines
5. Excellent Project Management Skills
6. Strong writing, editing and communication skills
7. Excellent attention to detail
8. Good follow through and follow up
9. Excellent Team Player
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a Full Time position, Monday through Friday. Actual hours and schedule may vary.
