A remote work schedule may be available after 90 days of employment pending the manager’s discretion and approval.

    Our client is currently a hybrid 60/40 office/telecommute agency. After 90 days, contractors may be approved for full-time telecommuting with the possibility of infrequent meetings in the agency’s offices. Please note as an executive branch agency, we are bound to policy and guidance of the elected Executive Branch and subject to any future expansion or removal of telecommuting policies.

    We have an immediate need for an exceptional individual to join our organization as a Communications/Training Specialist. This opportunity is based in Frankfort, KY and will be both in-office and remote. The ideal candidate will have the ability to convey information clearly and concisely, orally or in writing, to individuals or groups to ensure that they understand the information and the message, while also having the ability to design, develop and/or deliver training programs, taking into consideration the characteristics and needs of the audience, while also meeting the needs of our client.

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

    A Communications/Training Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing strategic internal and external communications, advocacy, and engagement plans that support the work of the UI IT & Business Teams. The ideal candidate will be able to fulfill the following duties:

    • Coordinate and perform regular training for campus areas on various subject matters.
    • Work with internal and external resources to identify various topics or subject areas, identify the scope of the required training and skill level of the individuals involved.
    • Work with project leads and UI/IT leadership to establish appropriate schedules.
    • Coordinate with internal and external (vendor) organizations where necessary to deliver training.
    • Assess existing web content and ensure content is updated and relevant per system changes, new technologies and user feedback.
    • Create the “UI University” training program and facilitate training in coordination with the Training Coordinator.
    • Carry-out training on new system projects in conjunction with the Change Management Specialist.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

    • Bachelors Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in communications strategy development.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Prior experience working with change management and training.
    • Experience in relevant communications software such as Microsoft Suite, Google Apps, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or web development.
    • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communications, teamwork, and time and portfolio management skills.
