Lead Editor, Syndication Content
  • Launch Potato
  • Stamford, CT FULL_TIME
  • YOUR ROLE

You will lead content strategy for FinanceBuzz across our syndication partners. This is an amazing opportunity to own not only evergreen, but also timely and AI content that will take us from 15 articles per day to 100 per day without sacrificing quality. The impact: you’ll reach millions of readers and drive new incremental revenue for the business. You will own the syndication calendar and fill it with story ideas and headlines. In addition, you’ll empower your editors and writers to grow into content strategists as well. (NOTE: This is NOT an SEO position.)

You'll need to be comfortable with a fast-paced, data-driven content creation process where you immerse yourself in both internal and partner analytics to drive content strategy and optimize performance. The ideal candidate is someone chock full of article ideas who can easily come up with dozens of highly-clickable ideas at any moment, whether it’s content relevant to today, to the season, or beyond. You also love coaching others in this process.

This department is rapidly growing and needs someone with an eye for efficiency and forging new processes. You must be systems-minded and love growing your team. You and your in-house team will be tasked with training and managing freelance editors and writers, as well as hiring additional in-house and freelance talent as we expand.

To thrive in this role, you'll need an entrepreneurial mindset and abundant curiosity. You are not someone daunted by ambiguity or unknowns. When you identify an opportunity, you go for it and when you're not sure, you test and iterate. We're looking for a strategic thinker who sweats the details.

    SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

    • Setting and then hitting (or even exceeding!) monthly, quarterly, and annual traffic and revenue goals for all syndication content
    • Hiring, training, and managing a winning team of in-house and freelance talent
    • Refining existing content creation processes and documentation, and establishing new ones where they don’t yet exist
    • Demonstrating strong editorial judgment and topical expertise across personal finance topics
    • Ensuring all content adheres to our style, sourcing, and compliance guidelines
    • Identifying trends and timely hooks that will increase content distribution on our syndication partner platforms
    • Monitoring analytics to make strategic decisions on what content to create or optimize
    • Working closely with editors and writers to help them deliver their best work through constructive feedback and mentorship
    • Working with our yield team to continually optimize monetization opportunities
    • Working with our product team to continuously improve our CMS
    • Deepening our current syndication relationships and scouting new opportunities

    WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

    • 5-8 years of experience in digital content creation and marketing
    • Experience (and a passion for) creating content specifically for syndication platforms like Apple News, MSN, and Yahoo
    • Previously scaled content monetization goals/KPIs for syndication content
    • A clear understanding of content analytics and experience making decisions based on metrics
    • An ability to work and make decisions independently even when there's no blueprint
    • Experience using a CMS to build online content
    • Basic knowledge of HTML a plus

    NICE TO HAVES

    • Topical knowledge of personal finance or adjacent verticals
    • Shopping or travel content experience is a plus

    Total Rewards & Compensation

    Salary range: $90,000–$110,000

Base salary is set according to market rates for the nearest major metro and varies based on Launch Potato’s Levels Framework. Your compensation package includes a base salary, profit-sharing bonus, and competitive benefits. Launch Potato is a performance-driven company, which means once you are hired, future increases will be based on company and personal performance, not annual cost of living adjustments.
