The New Growth & Development group is now hiring a Business Operations Manager for Cox Edge. Cox Edge is a new edge compute and data management service within Cox Communications. The Cox Edge team mission is to help businesses accelerate business and digital transformation by leveraging the benefits of edge computing. Cox Edge is a collection of low latency cloud infrastructure resources using our extensive infrastructure of edge facilities. Our edge data centers are located at the last mile of the network providing superior network speed to support developer and customer workloads across the ecosystem.
About the Job
The Cox Edge team is looking for a motivated individual to join the team as Business Operations Manager. You will work very closely with the business leadership team in the Growth Management Office which oversees business operations, finance planning, and strategy for all Cox Edge workstreams and business lines. You will assist with improving business processes and ensuring the Cox Edge business hits growth milestones.
The Business Operations Manager will support innovation by working with stakeholders to develop, deploy, and maintain plans that will drive successful outcomes for the business. This position will report to the Director of Growth Operations.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Business Operations
- Provide Operations Management consultation, advice and support for large scale initiatives across the company.
- Provide leadership in facilitating cross team activities that support scaling of the Cox Edge business, such as executive reporting, steering committees, and other special projects.
- Lead the Objectives and Key Results strategic planning process by tracking and reporting out on Key Results progress and facilitating the ongoing planning cycle.
- Develop detailed operational dashboards by which to measure progress, identify challenges and engage cross-functional stakeholders in the resolution.
- Project manage legal activities, including legal process compliance, supplier agreements, and customer agreements.
- Analyze and recommend changes for improvements to staffing, process methods, policies, procedures and other activities that support growth of the business
- Lead efforts to identify, document and communicate best practices for significant and complex business processes
Financial Planning
- Create and maintain detailed analytical models to support financial decisions regarding Cox Edge day-to-day operations and near, mid, and long-term initiatives.
- Identifies and selects data from multiple disparate systems to produce meaningful views of operational & financial performance.
- Lead reviews of financial metrics, synthesize key business drivers, and communicate up to management and key stakeholders.
- Monitor and optimize operational and financial processes by identifying anomalies and making recommendations.
- Work with Functional Leaders to highlight financial opportunities and risks.
- Partner with the finance department to manage P&L for Cox Edge.
- Lead long-range planning (LRP) by setting annual priorities and identifying funds needed.
- Develop views of business unit financial results to be shared with boundary partners and executive leadership for both recurring and ad-hoc reports.
- Lead monthly forecasting, reconciliation, and variance reporting. Work with the organization to mitigate causes for the variance between budget forecast and actuals.
- Act as the primary point of contact for suppliers to assist with payment setup and maintenance.
- Work with Sourcing to process Statement of Work agreements, create purchase orders and track payments
Industry Research and Strategy
- Work with industry peers, partners, suppliers, and key organizations, etc. to understand, influence, and communicate trends and requirements related to our products and services.
- Support business model innovation by assessing and iterating on the Cox Edge revenue model.
- Synthesize industry research to develop insights and deliver actionable recommendations to various stakeholders through reports and presentations.
Qualifications
Minimum
- 10 years of experience in a related field (e.g. Strategy, Program or Project Management, etc.); or a BS/BA degree in a related discipline (e.g. Business Administration, Strategy, Marketing, etc.) with 6 years of experience in a related field; or MS/MA degree in a related discipline with 4 years of experience in a related field; or Ph.D. in a related discipline with 1 year of experience in a related field
- Comfortable working on multiple workstreams and topics at the same time, pushing to get things done, at times with limited information, comfortable reaching out and securing engagement of multiple team members for information, brainstorming, or guidance
- Solid interpersonal, presentation, communication and collaborative skills and commitment to develop further skills and work effectively with teams throughout organization
- Highly analytical mindset with demonstrated ability to work through complex, ambiguous problems using data
- Proven success in ambiguous environments
- Proven success utilizing project management skillset driving to successful outcomes and understanding lessons learned and ability to apply to future projects
- Ability to develop business processes and keep teams organized in situations where process has not yet been established
- Strong knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and appetite to learn and implement new tools
- Natural curiosity and tendency to question the status quo combined with proven solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to approach and resolve issues using a data driven foundation
- Comfortable working in a fast pace, dynamic and matrixed environment
- Self-driven, creative and independent thinker
Preferred Experience
- Working for a top tier management consulting firm, investment bank, or equity research a plus
- Process analysis and continuous improvement within delivery operations
- Cloud, IOT and Telecommunications industry experience
- Fast-paced, start-up environments
