Acts as advisor to editing team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Additionally, Communications Editor Manager oversees the coordination of production and distribution activities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Communications Editor Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.     Job Description

    The University of Nevada, Reno, Office of Information Technology (OIT) is searching for candidates for the role of Manager of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Accessibility.

    The ICT Accessibility Manager will provide leadership, central oversight, technical direction, expert guidance, advocacy, and support to the University regarding campus-wide universal access to information and services available via technology for all persons. Minimizing University compliance risk associated with the accelerated and dynamic ICT accessibility landscape is also required.

    This position will research, recommend, and implement policies and procedures that promote the accessibility of ICT, and maintain campus accessibility standards that support the University Strategic Plan, students, faculty, staff, and members of the community-at-large. The incumbent will oversee ongoing compliance, enhancement of policies, procedures, plans, and guidelines in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, including NSHE and University policy.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of professional related work experience; OR Master’s Degree and two (2) years of professional related work experience.

    Related Professional experience: Experience in disability services (experience in a higher education setting is highly preferred).

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with project planning, program management, and policy development and implementation as well as experience evaluating accessibility using a variety of tools and manual testing.

    • The ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders across the University.

    • Knowledge of accessibility laws, regulations, standards, and compliance requirements including experience with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and accessible website design and development are highly desired.

    • Specific training and/or certification in digital accessibility competency is also highly desired.
