    The Communications Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive and dynamic communications strategy for Kalamazoo Christian Schools. The Communications Specialist serves as the creative architect for all internal and external communications for KCSA as a whole and its individual programs (Traditional, Spanish Immersion, High School, etc.). The Communications Specialist is also responsible for communicating the KCSA mission by capturing campus life - and its stories
    • - through various media including print, digital, and video.
    Responsibilities and Duties
    Marketing and Communications
    • Develop an annual strategic marketing and communications plan and calendar.
    • Assist with the development of the marketing and communications budget.
    • Management of the school website including frequent updates, current information and photos, updated events, promotion of current happenings, etc.
    • Advance the KCSA message through active social media feeds.
    • Proactively tell the KCSA story to the general public and equip others to share the KCSA story via communication with the media and all other available media, as appropriate (ex: advertising, direct mail, community events, promotional items, etc.).
    • Ability to photograph/video well with the intent to publish and archive is preferred. Work with Administration to develop a calendar of events that need to be photographed.
    • Stay informed on evolving communication opportunities (digital, print, etc.) and integrate as appropriate into the KCSA marketing and communications strategy.
    • Develop strategic community partnerships and engage with the local business community by attending various events and functions.
    • Oversee the Communications Committee (Director of Advancement, Director of Recruitment/Retention, Lead Administrator, Association and Advancement Assistant, Director of Technology, etc) - set monthly meetings, agendas, etc.).
    • Develop copy with copywriting experience.
    • Assist in the presentation of the KCSA story by continuously assessing and improving the experience of parents, visitors and guests at KCSA and at school events.
    • Owner and advocate for the KCSA brand (identity materials, logo usage, written “voice”, etc.).
    • Develop and manage production of marketing materials (letterhead, brochures, new family information, etc.).
    • Oversee all school wide communication including the biannual newsletter, the Torch.
    • Develop and maintain the KCSA archive of materials and memories

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications and/or public relations.
    • Prefer a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field of marketing, communication, and/or public relations.
    • Familiarity with Adobe Suite is required.
    • Must show a commitment to support and defend the Biblical and theological basis for the Church as expressed in the Reformed Creedal Standards and the Contemporary Testimony. Must also be an active communicant member of a church whose teaching and preaching agrees with the statement of beliefs of this school.
    • Demonstrates a working behavior with a high degree of honesty and integrity. Works conscientiously, confidentially and discreetly in all matters.
    • Demonstrates emotional maturity and self-control to remain positive during periods of stress and change.
    • Proven project management experience with extreme attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with families, staff, Board members, volunteers, other businesses, community groups and donors.
    • Ability to write editorials, letters, ads, social media posts, society communications and publications.
    • Tech savvy and comfortable with the use of various types of technology (computers, software, online applications, mobile devices, etc.).
