Communications Editor Supervisor supervises a staff of editors who write, prepare, and review content to be used in company publications. Helps develop, maintain, and implement editorial policies and standards and ensure conformance. Being a Communications Editor Supervisor oversees and reviews the team's work product. Monitors accuracy and ensures documents and materials follow organizational standards and branding. Additionally, Communications Editor Supervisor manages project tasks and timelines. Manages the coordination of production and distribution activities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Communications Editor Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions.     Key Responsibilities

    • Account support (15%)
      • Prepare meeting agendas, participate in meetings, and send meeting recaps and action items.
      • Regularly communicate with project teams to share project status, organize tasks, and work with team members to meet deadlines and surpass client expectations.
      • Address client needs in a timely manner.
      • Contribute to the creation of PR plans and quarterly business reviews.
      • Work independently on tasks.
    • Media relations (30%)
      • Read and highlight media coverage that’s relevant to clients and to general agency work.
      • Build and maintain media lists.
      • Research media opportunities that align with client goals.
      • Draft pitches that will resonate with reporters, producers, and editors.
      • Create media materials using journalistic style.
      • Coordinate/schedule media interviews.
      • Track media placements.
    • Content development (35%)
      • Develop content for guest columns, news releases, media alerts, newsletter articles and blog posts in journalistic style.
      • Develop, update, and use content calendars.
      • Create compelling, relevant content for social media.
      • Effectively use technologies and tools that assist with content, such as Canva, WordPress, Loomly & MailChimp.
      • Understand, internalize and implement feedback in subsequent drafts.
      • Follow AP style, use "smart brevity" and proper grammar, and adjust for client or agency style.
    • Research & reporting (25%)
      • Create client reports on key accomplishments, activities, and media coverage.
      • Research editorial calendars, award opportunities, calls for presentations, and other opportunities for visibility.
      • Monitor and analyze data to report on progress toward key metrics.
      • Conducts research and develops reports with high level of accuracy and keen attention to detail.

    Core competencies

    • Desire to grow already-established foundational skills in public relations tactics.
    • Accurate writer with strong grammatical skill and command of journalistic and AP style.
    • Understands the dynamics of packaging information for media consumption and the processes necessary to effectively pitch stories.
    • Commitment to continuous improvement and constant learning.

    Required Knowledge & Skills

    • Proficiency with PR tools and technology, including Microsoft Office suite, Google for Business, Dropbox, Slack, Zoom, WordPress (or similar content management system), MuckRack (or similar media research database and media monitoring systems), MailChimp (or similar email marketing platform), Loomly (or other social media management/scheduling tools), and AirTable (or similar project management tools).

    Required Experience

    • Minimum of 1 year of post-graduate experience working in public relations, communications, or journalism, with a preference for experience at a PR agency.
    • Experience in content development, with a preference for B2B communications.
    • Bachelor’s degree required – focus on journalism, communications or public relations preferred.

    Additional Requirements:

    This is a full-time hybrid position based in St. Petersburg, Florida. B2 is a fully virtual agency, however, the responsibilities require in-person meetings with clients and supervision at photo shoots and media interviews in the Tampa Bay region on a regular basis.

    Preference will be given to candidates who live in Florida, or would relocate within 6 months of starting the position.

    Compensation

    We offer a competitive salary based on experience:

    • 1 year of post-graduation experience: Starting salary of $40,000 with flexibility based on agency experience and skills.
    • 2-3 years (or more) of post-graduation experience: Starting salary of $50,000 with flexibility based on agency experience and skills.
