Marketing and Communications Manager

  • Position Summary:
    The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will support the marketing and promotional efforts of the organization by developing content for key platforms, including email newsletters, websites, and social media, and support public relations initiatives, working with local and regional media. They will also create marketing promotional and collateral materials for use by internal stakeholders and external partners, working collaboratively with the in-house graphics team and external agencies/vendor partners, and help draft press materials.

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Support retail, group sales, programming, and archives teams to support content needs across all channels, including but not limited to email marketing, the National Comedy Center and Lucy Desi Museum websites, and social media assets.
    • Support the facilitation of promotions and partnerships across all departments and platforms to drive museum attendance, product sales, and event ticket sales including the annual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival.
    • Support, develop, and write promotional material to promote museum admission, event attendance, group tours, museum membership, retail merchandise and venue rentals.
    • Support, build, analyze, and report on the performance and effectiveness of marketing and promotional campaigns across all channels.
    • Support the management of the National Comedy Center social media platforms on a day-to-day basis and ensure brand consistency.
    • Oversee all aspects of customer interaction with the organization via social media, online travel, and review platforms to ensure a positive customer experience.
    • Draft press releases and coordinate press outreach and media relations.
    • Track, analyze and report on press mentions.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field, is required.
    • A minimum of 2 years of experience in marketing and/or public relations/communications.
    • Outstanding communication (written and verbal) skills with expertise in crafting compelling content & messaging.
    • Experience with managing business/organization social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok.
    • Experience with creating video content for social media.
    • Strong problem solving, organizational, and time management skills.
    • Strong editing and proofreading skills.
    • Enthusiastic, optimistic, and innovative with a passion to succeed.
    • Ability to thrive and be highly effective in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
    • A team player who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves to help the team across all departments.
    • Must be adaptable to pivot readily, both in job responsibilities, as well as in the work environment, and have the willingness to be flexible in adapting to re-prioritized tasks.
    • Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
    • Marketing and/or PR experience in travel/tourism, hospitality or attraction industry is strongly preferred.
    • Experience with web and digital marketing analytics tools and CRM systems preferred.
    • A basic understanding of SEO (search engine optimization) is preferred.
    • Experience with photography (including product photography) is preferred.
    • E-commerce experience is a plus.
    • Graphic design skills are a plus.
    • Event marketing experience, entertainment industry marketing experience and/or non-profit marketing experience is a plus.
    • Primarily a Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm position. Must be able to work on occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
    • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $33,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year
