What you will do-
Provide oversight to a packaging team with respect to packaging process sustainment. Assist in segments of complex multifunctional teams to advance assigned projects through the design /development/sustaining process and ultimately through launch into the market. Champion the use of best practices.
Additional Responsibilities:
Work on cross-functional process sustainment and problem-solving teams to develop process protocols, address process deviations, and maintain existing SOPs to ensure adherence to quality levels and industry standards that working to improve our manufacturing process.
Develop, manage, and communicate project timelines within a cross-functional team.
Define and implement specific solutions to technical problems, completing the tasks and writing reports that clearly document the results.
Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners (Advanced Operations, Engineering Services, Facilities), contract manufacturers, designers, and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability, resolve in-house and supplier quality problems using established problem-solving methodologies.
Actively participate and lead teams in the development and improvement of the manufacturing process for existing and new products.
Review and approve inspection plans, routers, and product drawings. Review current procedures and implement changes necessary to be compliant taking account of the impact of this change to the business.
Develop, review, and approve equipment validation/qualifications. Pro-actively address quality issues and process improvements for assigned projects.
Support product transfers from outside vendors and other plants/facilities.
Review and approve nonconforming material and system documentation.
Designs, develops, executes, and evaluates fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans; creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials.
Demonstrate superior technical protocol and report writing skills. Review technical document quality of junior engineers.
Provide guidance in conducting and evaluating Verification and Validation activities so they comply with internal standards, exploit all technical challenges, and are statistically relevant.
Provide packaging SME support for Audits and Submissions
Assist packaging operations team as needed on projects and deliverables, such as SICR, Cost reduction, Process improvements, CAPAs, NCs etc.
Direct and manage the workflow and packaging sustaining tasks of engineers within the scope of assigned projects.
Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide Training on relevant packaging standards. Serve as a mentor to others.

What you need-
Bachelor's degree Engineering required
A minimum of 8 years of experience is required
Direct packaging experience within orthopedics, the medical device industry or similar - strongly preferred
Expertise in the packaging performance requirements of orthopedic implants- preferred
Expertise in design controls and risk management within a regulated industry - preferred
Expertise leading multiple complex packaging development initiatives, from concept through release - preferred
