Community Development Loan Officer oversees the bank's CRA Programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal Community Reinvestment Act banking regulations to meet the credit needs of the area's low to moderate-income populations. Serves as the subject matter expert of CRA laws, rules, and regulations by maintaining a deep and up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements, proposed legislation, and announcements. Being a Community Development Loan Officer reviews and analyzes lending activity data and practices to ensure compliance with CRA policies. Develops, implements, and administers the overall corporate CRA plan and localized or remedial plans with guidelines and standards to assist with compliance. Additionally, Community Development Loan Officer advises management and coordinates with legal staff on the potential impact of actions. Coordinates and delivers reports to bank leadership and regulatory agencies. Ensures the bank has a positive and visible role in community economic development activities, events, and initiatives. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Community Development Loan Officer work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     Role Summary:

    The Home Loan Officer generates leads, establishes and maintains referral relationships and assists members with their mortgage lending needs. Analyze loan requests and make credit decisions based on mortgage lending policy. Originate real estate first mortgage loans for the credit union’s portfolio or for sale on the secondary market for existing members and for new members acquired through business development efforts and outside sales. Project a professional image and maintain confidentiality with all customer and critical data.

     

    What You Will Be Doing:

    1. Meet the minimum established individual goals each month.
    2. Make in person calls on real estate agents and brokers, financial advisors, builders and other potential referral sources to develop borrower leads. It is expected the External Loan Officer will spend significant time out of the office selling loan products and generating leads.
    3. Meet prospective clients at locations outside of Gesa as needed.
    4. Attend Open houses and other industry events as needed.
    5. There are no set working hours and External Loan Officers are expected to schedule their work as needed to be successful.
    6. Ensure that all approved loans follow established loan standards and have zero errors.
    7. Demonstrate a proven understanding of all mortgage products and rates, both within Credit Union and from the industry overall.
    8. Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely, friendly and accurate manner.
    9. Interview members for residential mortgage loans, explain financing and mortgage programs and their requirements.
    10. Advise members of results of preliminary financial analysis.
    11. Calculate Loan Estimates.
    12. Track status of loans, process loan in a timely manner.
    13. Must understand and perform Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) functions as applicable to job responsibilities.
    14. Attend credit union training sessions, conferences, or seminars as approved by supervisor. Maintain awareness of policies and regulations related to duties and responsibilities.
    15. Build positive relationships with real estate agents and members of the community to increase production of loan sales.
    16. Display mutual respect, trust and dignity, acting in the best interest of the credit union. Lead by example by displaying solid ethics and integrity at all times.
    17. Control risk and perform duties in a safe and sound manner.
    18. Maintain and protect all sensitive data utilizing the highest standard of confidentiality and professionalism. Consistently display respect for all areas of diversity and levels of knowledge.

    2. Ability to effectively communicate in writing, in person and over the phone.
    3. Ability to make quality decisions in a timely manner with utmost attention to detail.
    4. Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
    5. Ability to promote and maintain a productive work environment.

    Qualifications


    What You Will Need:

    1. Three to five years of similar or related experience; mortgage lending experience desired.
    2. High school diploma; or equivalent completion of specialized course of study, training, and experience.
    3. Obtain and maintain valid NMLS Mortgage Loan Originator Identification (MLO) Number.
    4. Extensive knowledge of conforming and non-conforming loans as defined by the secondary market desired.
    5. Experience with Desktop Underwriting or other lending-specific software desired.
    6. Experience in the development of new business through calling on the real estate community and membership in professional organizations desired with a proven outside sales track record.
    7. Experience in loan origination consistent with FNMA guidelines, as well as FHA and VA loan originations desired.
    8. Proficiency with standard office equipment, lending software, spreadsheets, and word processing.
    9. Independent travel is required to achieve training and business objectives.
    10. A valid Driver’s License is required.

    Salary Range:
