Additionally, Community Development Representative adheres to all operational procedures and complies with Community Reinvestment Act and other regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree.     Position Description

    Tourism and Community Development Coordinator

    Jasper County Economic Development Organization

    Nature of Work

    Are you passionate about promoting community events, enhancing tourism, working with grants, and supporting local businesses? The Jasper County Economic Development Organization (JCEDO) is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Tourism and Community Development Coordinator. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in administering grants and work closely with local organizations. This individual will help promote and develop community events, while also creating marketing and promotional materials to showcase Jasper County's tourism and quality of life assets. Additionally, you will be responsible for hosting small business development training and providing resources to support local entrepreneurs.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Grant Management

    • Generate quarterly reports to track grant expenditures and outcomes.
    • Market grant programs to potential applicants and stakeholders.
    • Coordinate with contractors, funding agencies, and state agencies to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
    • Administer the Facade Improvement Grant to enhance the aesthetic appeal of local businesses.

    2. Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Develop and nurture relationships with tourism industry stakeholders, including businesses, attractions, and local organizations.
    • Serve as a spokesperson for Jasper County's tourism efforts, representing the county at meetings, conferences, and promotional events.
    • Provide leadership and staff support for the Jasper County Tourism Commission (JCTC).

    3. Marketing and Promotion:

    • Develop and execute a strategic tourism marketing plan to enhance Jasper County's visibility and appeal.
    • Manage and enhance social media platforms and web-related opportunities to engage with target audiences effectively.
    • Benchmark industry best practices and explore innovative marketing strategies for implementation.
    • Coordinate media and public relations activities to generate positive publicity for tourism initiatives.

    4. Administrative Responsibilities:

    • Compile Innkeepers Tax Reports for submission to the Jasper County Tourism Commission.
    • Prepare vouchers for auditor approval upon grant applications being voted on by JCTC.

    5. Event Marketing and Business Development:

    • Market events that support economic development and tourism efforts, collaborating with event organizers and stakeholders.
    • Attend community events to promote tourism and engage with residents and visitors.
    • Create marketing and promotional materials to highlight Jasper County's tourism and quality of life assets.
    • Host small business development trainings and provide resources to support local entrepreneurs.

    6. Additional Responsibilities:

    • Perform other duties as assigned by Jasper County Economic Development.

    Recommended Education Background:

    Bachelor's degree in Tourism Management, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team is essential.

    Knowledge of local government operations and community dynamics is advantageous.

    Having previous experience in event coordination, community engagement, grant writing or related roles is beneficial.

    Proficiency in marketing and promotional strategies as well as relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Wordpress, Adobe PDF, and graphic design tools.

    Miscellaneous Requirements

    This position may require:

    Occasional night and/or weekend attendance to local events and meetings.

    Driving to locations within a 5 hour radius of the JCEDO.

    Occasional overnight or extended travel.
