Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center (SJJCC) is a not-for-profit located in East Hills, NY, which services North Shore Communities with a wide range of programs for all ages. The SJJCC is a thriving community center at the heart of many communities. Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center offers an array of programs to it members, including a robust program for children and teens of all ages as well as specialized programs featuring adult day care and a special needs center with year round programming including a camp for children with special needs. A variety of Jewish educational programs, films, authors, theatre and recreational programs for our adults and seniors are offered as well. Also, the SJJCC proudly features a state of the art fitness center and brand new aquatics center that promote health and wellness in the lives of both its employees and members.

POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center is seeking a full-time Director of Health and Wellness to oversee our fitness, aquatics and wellness programs. The Director of Health and Wellness is responsible for directing, supervising, growing, and maintaining all aspects of the fitness and wellness programs of the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center. The Director of Health and Wellness will create and implement creative new programs and services that build and strengthen community connections among members, promote fitness, health, and recreation, that can be a source of new revenue for Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center. The Director of Health and Wellness supervises the Aquatics Supervisor, Welcome Desk supervisor, Group Exercise supervisor, Maccabi Supervisor, Fitness/ Conditioning Supervisor and Sports and Gym Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities:

• Direct and supervise health and wellness activities to meet SJJCC objectives.
• Actively identify and implement new fitness and wellness program revenue streams.
• Identify areas for growth by evaluating the effectiveness and impact of fitness and wellness programs.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center to promote programs and look for opportunities for collaborations to meet the needs and interests of the community more effectively.
• Manage supplies and equipment for the Health and Wellness Center and ensure that equipment is properly maintained.
• Build relationships and maintain ongoing and effective communication with members and participants in the Health and Wellness Center.
• Recruit, hire, train, develop and supervise staff to ensure user expectations are met.
• Review and evaluate staff performance.
• Foster a welcoming, safe, well-rounded environment for all participants in the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center’s fitness programs and facility.
• Assist and participate in the marketing and distribution of program information and schedules.
• Maintain vendor relationships and ensure ongoing maintenance of health and fitness equipment and facilities and compliance with all safety regulations.
• Understand, enforce and adhere to SJJCC policies and procedure in a consistent manner resulting in efficient, professional operations.
• Attend events/meetings as required. Assist with cultivation of collaborative relationships with community partners and the coordination of community events.
• Prepare and actively manage annual Health and Wellness budget. Manage and approve staff timecards, payroll, hours, and shifts.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a related field.

· 5 years of experience in fitness programming, including management experience.

· Previous experience hiring, training, and supervising staff.

· Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

· Proven ability to problem solve.

· Strong computer skills.

· CPR/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer certified

· Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays to support the JCC operations and events.

The compensation for this position is $75k-$95k.
