Community Health Director jobs in Asheville, NC

Community Health Director is responsible for developing plans for community-based health programs aimed at the prevention of disease and promotion of health. Recommends community health initiatives, policy implications and best practices after reviewing health literature and statistics. Being a Community Health Director identifies community health program related grant funding and develops grant proposals. Manages specific community health programs from planning and design through implementation and evaluation. Additionally, Community Health Director requires a master's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a top management. The Community Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Community Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. CHW position will require occasional weekend and after/before hours work due to the scope of the job. The ideal candidate will be proactive, independent, and motivated to advocate for undeserved populations and have already built trust in the communities or has a track record of gaining the trust of similar communities.


    Education & Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent, Valid NC Drivers License, Reliable Transportation and Proof of Vehicle Insurance. Two years of experience in the CHW field, health education, health care, social services or related field preferred. Bilingual preferred.
